What is the Gender of your Car?

What is the sex of your Mercedes or other car?

I've sometimes named my cars.

My 1968 Opel was Otto. The white with blue interior 1963 Cutlass was Trixie. My 1981 VW Rabbit was Harvey (appropriate, the guy who ran into it said he never saw it.) Lots of cars came and went without names. The 1975 burgundy Lincoln Town Car I bought in 1978 during the second oil embargo for $700 (sold after the embargo for $1900) was the Purple Pig. Asexual.

Currently, my two '83 300SD's are Guderian and Rommel, definitely male. The MR2 somehow hasn't gotten a name, but the only appropriate name I can think of has already been used. It is feminine.

I've seen other 300SD's in this forum with feminine names. Why? Is it the color scheme, the way it acts, or some other reason?

I know you can't look at the rear end to tell what gender your car is, so how did you decide?

I don't name my cars and I've never thought about "genderizing" them, but if I had to guess:

500SL AMG - definitely a guy
300E AMG - definitely a guy
E320 Wagon - probably a girl

The block heater plug-end seems to indicate my cars (all diesel) are "male".

Whenever the startup cranking takes longer than it should I say "c'mon baby" or "c'mon *****". I guess that's my answer.

Well, I've always named every single one of my vehicles. Even my tractor trailers all had names. It's sort of a family tradition. Many have had female names/gender.

3.) 1978 Malibu Coupe; "Crystal" (Cousin Totaled it for me)

31.) 1971 Chevelle "Heavy Chevy"; Sold many years ago, Never named.
32.) 1957 Chevy Bel-Air, 210 Coupe; Sold many years ago.

There are a ton more I've forgotten about, but I'm having a hard time remembering them. Many of my vehicles have had, or have names. Mom started it when my bros. and I were kids. As a result, I still ask her to name my vehicles for me, if I'm having a hard time with it.
To some it's mundane, pointless, "They're just machines" whatever.
To me, It matters a great deal, and somehow seems to "Humanize" the vehicles, and reflect individual characteristics

Call me crazy...

Nick

My '98 E300 fluctuates between feminine and masculine qualities thus I conclude it is equipped with an Automatic Transgender...............

Max is a total stud. I have referred to some other cars as "*****" when they did not behave as I wanted them to. . . .

Not sure, "piece of $h!t" is fairly gender inspecific. Although probably leaning towards the masculine.

Not necessarily. My dad had 5 different MB’s and a BMW. He currently has a E320 (210).

I asked him once and he said what better revenge than to drive something that would piss Hitler off to no end?

I figure my car has to be a woman. Damn thing is sucking every last penny out of my pocket and I still treat her like a princess.

All of my vehicles have been girls with the exception of Bruno the 300SD. He is big, smelly, greasy and slow - just like me! The Corvair was Barbra Ann, the Nomad had to be named Peggy Sue, etc. the only car that had no name was the Impala SS she was just "the Impala"
