I know nothing other than it is an '83, has 122k miles and has "electrical problems".

Waiting for the callback.

If it is an '83 380SEL it is a euro, because those LWB models were not sold in the USA in that model year.

You could part it out and make $$$ because of the desirable euro bumpers, euro lights and other parts that are probably on it, that many W126 owners in the USA are hungry to buy.

With the 8 motorcycles and 3 cars you already have, you should be able to find a place to park it. The "WAF" (wife acceptance factor) must be pretty high around your house.

I don't have any place to park it but, if I make money on it she will not care. I am getting my hopes up anyway. It is probably already sold.

WAF, lol.

Use the "48 hour" rule.

As a reward for a fellow sneaking new and inexpensive cylinders into the Crisis Center and also escaping any female wrath that might accrue from said purchase, the fellow may make up any story he wishes after 48 hours regarding the acquisition. In other words, she gets 48 hours to notice the purchase and complain. If she misses her window, you are home free.

Wow that could be one heck of a deal!

I need a winter beater for next winter, and the dread of having to drive another Jetta is pretty real! Not to mention a very strong motivator! I need to find me one of those deals! Even a tired barely running W126 that sucks fuel is better then a somewhat decent 96 Jetta with a stick. Which to me is only marginaly better then a pair of walking shoes!

I just remember that really clean 240D I found two years ago for $1k. I should have bought it, cheaped out!

I don't like that engine, which in this case very well may have slipped the single row timing chain and grenaded (1983 US spec motor had the notorious single row chain) but I sure do love the color on that car.

Ugh. a 380 advertised as "needs engine work" It then goes from a $500 car to a "I'll take it off your hands for you" car.

I'm excited. Finally talked to the guy. I am going to look at it today.

He says,
the body is decent, color black
interior is so so, 20+ year old car
he ran it every so often (owns alot of cars) and last time he tried to start it the motor would turn over but would not start.

He DID NOT investigate.

Where should I start? Pull one of the plugs and try to turn it over and look for spark?

I will not have a camera on me today but I will most likely buy the car for the parts. I will post pics when I take them.
