I used to live, as a tween, a couple of blocks from a junkyard. In those days, around the early sixties there wasn't even a fence. I just would wander in and check out all the old forties buicks, olds and fords. They didn't mind and I would concoct elaborate engine swap schemes in my mind with the vehicles in my young imagination.

In my mind all the engines were of course in perfect running order and only needed to be transplanted and tinkered with a bit.

Now unfortunately there are virtually no yards around here. None with any benzes and the ones in Indianapolis have no benzes any more either.

I think environmental laws may have a lot to do with that.....though I doubt that the enforcment here is all that vigerous.

That's sad. there are more benzes in the pick-npull than at an all BMW and Benz junkyard. Even though most benzes there are parted to hell, Last time I was there I found a secret stash of them around the domestic cars that were barely touched, just a little too old to be of use to me. And last time I scored to find a euro 500SEC that still had good headlights.

Man, I love the site, and I love junkyards, I'm going to review as many as I can. If you need any web design and programming help, let me know, used to do it for a living.

eagleco said he knows of two DMC-12's in some junkyards in the country... I think the rest are snapped up(if wrecked 0 ) and fixed or parted out extensively...

I am glad everyone likes the site. It's pretty slow sight now, but once I get off of the free servers and onto a real one it should work a lot faster. Also I plan on printing up some business cards to distribute to other junkyarders that any site members can have for free. I am anyway looking for people to help out and post some links too! Pictures are even better.

Never seen a DMC that had much more than the shell in the junk yards, though I have seen em before.

Try to go weekly. They run cars in and out of there so fast, it's almost like you have to go that often.
