Possible Relocation to CT

Had a great interview today with a company in Danbury, CT. So, now I'm looking for a halfway cheap place to live, and not having much luck. Anyone know of anyplace about 25 miles outside of Danbury? Is there any place decent in Danbury? Been looking at Realtor dot com, and there is hardly anything up there with a garage, much less more than .18 acre of land. I have a feeling this is going to be a rough time looking. Wonder if I can keep the VA house too??

The other company was Bridgestone in Morrison Tennessee. Liking that one too.

What are you looking for? A rental or to buy?

I'm with Re/Max, why don't you PM me your criteria and email and I'll do a search and see whats around.

Getting land in CT, more so southern CT is expensive.

Doing an uber quick search of the MLS I found a few:

Danbury
142 STADLEY ROUGH RD
MLS#: F980763
$339,900
0.730

15 JOES HILL RD
MLS#: F980937
$349,000
EstAcr 0.760

Newtown
12 SCENIC VIEW DRIVE
MLS#: F980960
$349,000
0.340

New Fairfield
13 LAKEVIEW DR
MLS#: F980670
$290,000

All these are within 10-11 miles of Danbury. Fairfield county is very expensive.

Generally properties here get larger and cheaper as long as you go Northeast until you start getting into the Hartford suburbs and then that trend continues. Directly north and south of Danbury will keep you in some pretty pricey real estate.

Where in Va are you?
Are you near DC at all?

We can swap houses... yours for mine in New Paltz, NY...

it is 60 miles from Danbury, but the taxes and lifestyle are better in NP.

"Cheap" and "Connecticut" should not be used in the same sentence.

You may find less expensive housing towards Waterbury.

I came from the midwest to CT 22 years ago, and I would suggest you give that Tenn. job a good looking at.

CT is a nice place to be if you have money, but rather challenging if you don't.

Cheap is all realitive. In Milford $250k ish is considered a good starter home. You just cannot get a house below $200k, other than a few odd balls that pop up now and than.

Milford is not really bad though, Fairfield county is much more expensive. In Southport, Greenwich, Westport area little capes go for $700k+

I good rule of thumb to remember with CT is: The close to NY city, or the coast that you get the more you will be paying.

Excellent summary. CT is a nice place to live

Our family had been in CT for about 25 yrs. My bro is the only person left there (Milford). I will suggest that you need to be making good money to support a reasonable life style and be able to afford housing.

I'm not clear whether OP is looking to buy or rent. Do we know?

I beleive he is looking to rent for now, which opens up a lot more options for him.

We're working on our 375th in the same town. We haven't found a good enough excuse to leave yet. Although they're trying to push us.

Isn't that a big IBM place? Fairfield, CT?

Well, we'd hate to see you go, Tony. BTW, I just sent you the $$ for those window regulators . . .
