Civic CEL problems
OK the manufacture date of my Civic is 92' (as stated at the loacation by the vin number) but I have alwaysthought it to be 93' so whatever you guys think is more likely refer to that model civic. My car currently needs to be registered but it also needs to pass a smog test to be registered or i can lose my car. The CEL comes on everytime i drive after about 20 seonds to a minute of driving. I read some forums here and i called autozone and they said they will rent me a CEL reader. The problem is I have no idea how to use it for my model car. Can anyone please link me a walkthrough or explain how to use it on my car before i go rent one. Thank you : )

Take a peek under the pass side dash. You will see a blue green rubber plug holder. Take out the blue plug, jump the terminals with a paper clip, put key into ignition and turn to acc position. Check engine lite will flash a series of flashes. Read how many long and how many short flashes and repost here and I can tell you what the CEL is for............

Nice going "97civicdx"!, I hope you can help the poster out.

The plug might be tucked up in the panel that covers the ecu. Its a rubber molex looking plug. Go to www.honda-tech.com and search CEL codes

Not sure about it because of the year but try taking it to AutoZone and see if they will read the code for you. They do offer this service.
