Aspartan warning--is it real?
I just got an urgent email warning from a guy who does not always know what he is talking about. Its a warning that Aspartane becomes formaldehide at higher temps, and poisons people.
With all the Aspartane out there, can this be true?

I'm assuming that's the same as aspartame? I've always heard bad things....but then again, I'm an organic freak - so take that with a grain of celtic sea salt.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy I'm sure TwitchKitty has some information about it.... Generally speaking, artificial sweetners scare me but I'm no scientist.

Very few synthetic food substitutes are healthy.
R12 refrigerant becomes phosgene gas when burned. |

I stay away from all artificial sweeteners - aspartame, sucralose - you name it. If I want a pop, I drink the non-diet version and burn off the calories in one way or another.
![]() One of the things that really creeps me out about sucralose is that it is not metabolized/digested at all by the body. It passes through you unscathed on a molecular level. That is creepy. The body sees the molecule and goes WTF is this? Doesn't know what to do with it, so it just passes on through...at least most of it does. Some can accumulate in the gall bladder, etc. Aspartame does break down into formaldehyde eventually, but apparently trace amounts. You'd probably need to ingest a barrel of aspartame to get anywhere near a dangerous dose...but still...formaldehyde? No thanks.

Just think how much you'll save when it comes time to bury someone.

I mainly just drink tap water. . . . . Oh, crap! That's not good for you either!
Hell, once we all die, we'll probably be like those damned hot dogs that NEVER decay or deteriorate in land fills. Our bodies are likely to still be intact a thousand years from now,. we have so many preservatives in us.

Of course, if any of this stuff is flammable, and we choose to be cremated, we'll be like those Kingsford Matchlight Charcoal Briquettes. Just hold a match to one of our toes and we'll light right up!

Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine
Yum! Excessive phenylalanine intake has been linked to mental retardation if you lack the enzyme required to break it down.

I don't remember which one but one of the substitute sweeteners is closely related to a neurotransmitter. Eat like a caveman.
Many sugar-free "foods" are really high in sodium. Food grows, it does not come from a factory. Eat everything as close to the way it grew naturally as possible. |
