I had a Big Briar theremin for a while. Neat to play with, but I never could get "good" at it. This one's interesting (if a little annoying with the extra DJ'ing thrown in): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvkyjR4yk60

Give me Leo Kottke or Chet Atkins on an Olson guitar, that's a cool instrument!

Oh man, both good uns. I heard an interesting story about Chet Atkins. He was on a transatlantic cruise and at one point was performing informally for a group of passengers. One guy came up and listened for a while. After one tune he said, "Well, you're good, but you're no Chet Atkins."
I saw Kotke in concert in Seattle back in the late 80s, IIRC, being warmed up by the late Michael Hedges, also no slouch. Quite a show.

Then there is Phil Keaggy on his Philly Live DVD this one called the Salvation Army Band, all but 4 songs on the DVD are with his Olson guitar recorded in the fall of 2001, shortly after September 11th. Recorded with his Jam Master. |
