Check it, man . . . when Dave's not here, we don't have to pay for gas.

Maui, first in the nation to hit $4 for regular unleaded. However, that's nothing compared to :

On Monday, the price of a gallon of regular gasoline was the highest in Maui County at Lanai City Service at $4.68. Hana ranked second at $4.55 a gallon, and Rawlins Chevron Service on Molokai was charging the least among the rural communities at $4.36 a gallon.

I paid 4.07 a gallon for Premium about 2 days ago...

I am not complaining though... With the fuel prices where they are, there are less inattentative drivers on the road, which in turn leads to less people almost hitting my car.

How much are we paying? Vastly more than we should be.

New Orleans: ~3.24 for regular, ~3.49 for premium, ~3.95 for diesel.

I dont drive a whole lot, as I am in college. I only put like 20$ in at a time.... The price going up 25 cents only gives me like 1/3 less of a gallon.

It might well be, and even cheaper compared to Canada or Europe. That doesn't make it right. If the oil companies are posting record profits, they are obviously not being hurt by the rising cost of crude or the rising (they say) cost of exploration and drilling. If they were, their profits would be down or flat, not soaring.

$3.61 for Premium at Hess (they now say they may have up to 10% ethanol in their fuel)
$4.07 for Diesel at Hess. (I managed to buy some at another Hess, in another county for $3.97 last week)

I pre-paid my fillup on a rental today for $3.14. Lowest in the area was $3.27 so I thought it was a good deal. Keep for a week or so. Just gotta make sure I coast back in there on fumes when I return....

lol, np!

I know gas here is cheap when compared to Europe, but then again commutes are generally much shorter in Europe as well. You travel 6 hours in Europe, you can cross countries. In Canada, that won't even get you half-way across Ontario.

Many people around Toronto commute as much as 300 Km a day or more (150 Km x2). That will get expensive fast.
