Remember, the dems demanded the chance to go on the record in their support of the war lest the President get all the glory.
Principled; yeah.

They have been dreaming about having Hillary with her nutty, clunky pronouncements going up against one of their crowd for years, and they can't let it go. I saw her yesterday going on about suspending the gas tax for a period of time . . . . God she can be lame.

Oversimplification, IMO. The president and crew had saturated the discussion with the danger of Iraq for months. There was no place for Congress to go. A bit weak, I'll admit, but the bully pulpit does afford a massive edge in propo.

Once Bush got the opening, it became clear that any further inspections were a temporary ruse until he/they got their cherished wish, the chance to kick Saddam's booty once and for all and institute their vision of how they just knew the world was going to turn out . . . . .

Golly, what went wrong . . .

They are just as worthless.

Among all the low points in politics in recent years, Fall 2002 was probably the lowest. Edwards was the biggest disappointment for me. He had me fooled before that vote.

And her lameness is even more obvious on the gas tax issue. It is so weak. I can't believe they are using it. Or maybe I can. Sigh.

Add to that the obvious fact that the bloom is off of Bill's rose big-time, I'm not too sure I like the idea of her on top of the ticket with Obama playing understudy any more.

Far too lazy to read the whole thread, but I agree with whoever said Wright just wants to wrestle the spotlight away for as long as he can. Jackson and Sharpton need Wright to complete the trinity.

So are we all agreed that our country is run by politicians who are unworthy of their positions?--politicians of both parties.

I think I heard an Obama quote on the 2nd Amendment and the DC gun ban. If I heard him correctly, he said that the Constitution granted the right to bears arms, and so it could be taken away.
I was shocked--the very reason that some of the Founders opposed the Bill of Rights was their fear that someday, someone might actually think that the government granted Rights. Now we have a presidential candidate who does not even understand that the Rights were unalienable--NOT granted by governments--but endowed by their Creator.
If he understands so little of the Constitution how in the world will he " uphold and defend" it from all enemies foreign and domestic?
He is a domestic enemy of the Constitution, as are also McCain, and Clinton. Yet one of these three WILL be President. God save the Republic.

Both parties also have people worthy of their positions. Virginia's senators, for example, Webb and Warner. I have no complaints with either. And there is a good chance that John Warner will be replaced by Mark Warner, a man of amazing skill and accomplishment. So, it's not all bad.

Hold the phone. That is one gigantic "if" at the front of that last sentence. Lets see his quote. I will bet dollars to donuts that his meaning wasn't remotely what you have implied here.

Like I said, lets see the quote. There is no way you have stated his opinion accurately. No way.

dculkin,
Thats why the "IF". One of the problems with listening to the radio while driving--there is no hard copy.

The Mrs and I watched cnbc for a while last evening which devoted a whole hour to the Rev. Wright silliness.

Wright is truly an Ass, IMHO. Some of the things he says are really not that wrong but his overall attitude is very destructive to Obama.

They interviewed Obama about it with his wife sitting there. They must be so fed up with this whole Wright issue. I felt sorry for them.

Some of the reporter interviewers are really jerks.

I don't totally think they should get a pass for it though.

I'm still voting for Hillary. I like her. Seeing her at ease with the spotlight now is very refreshing in comparison to the uptight way she handled herself at first.

This long primary process does have the benefit to seeing how the candidate performs when tired and constantly answering questions......pretty much how their lives will be for the next four (or eight) years.

Hillary and Obama both are pretty impressive, IMHO. McCain looks pretty sluggish by comparison.

Agreed. Even if he thought that, which I doubt, he's way too smart to say it out loud.

Obama DID say it, but is now backtracking fast! I heard him on the radio at one of his addresses! That statement almost made my drive into the median! He was a senior leader of the Joyce Foundation who wants ALL guns BANNED from ALL CITIZENS. Look at his home state of Illinois. Guns have been banned in so many ways that now the easiest ones to get are illegal arms on the street! Something is dead wrong when you take away the right to keep and bear arms from law abiding American Citizens and the only ones left with them in umlimited numbers are the criminals!

Lord help us save this republic from the Liboctite Lunatics.

Reverend Wright has every good reason to derail Obama! He can keep and maintain his position of power by telling the flock that the white man can still keep the black man down by destroyong Obama's chances while maintaining his own protected position, just like Obama has been doing by voting "present" 143 times in the Senate and only passing ONE bill!

Show me you can walk the walk, not just talk the talk!
