It IS the culture.
Remember the quote, " Without a vision, the people perish"? We, as a people have no vision of our society that is "worthy". We, as a people, have no fear of any deity, any future judgment, our Courts are corrupt, and punish the innocent and allow the guilty to go free. As a result all issues become primarily financial ones. Our law-makers (generally) consider themselves our masters, rather than our servants. "Public service" is now an oxymoron.
Is that a bleak enough bleak outlook? No wonder the Muslims refer to us as "The Great Satan". We resemble that remark.

Watch out, wouldn't want to give credence to that remark in the wrong conservative circles.

You're starting to scare me man, making good sense and all. I agree that our culture is vacuous in many ways. In the last decade, the biggest decision for some people was whether to go with the RV that had the telescoping living room extension and the washer and dryer in back that gets 5 mpg, or go for the one w/o those features getting 6 mpg for $20 K less.

The huge swarms descending on NASCAR tracks for long tailgate parties and the irreplaceable excitement of having your ears slightly damaged by hours of delicious noise ought to be proof enough that we are a society adrift.

Dude:

Occasionally you make some sense but more and more your stuff is looking like a print version of exhibitionism.

Your wife has a clearance: either you're lying or bragging. To what end?

You can kick someone's a$$. See above.

I'm not a small guy (so I'm told), I don't especially feel like an enormous tough guy, but I like to think I don't scare easily. However, I watch some of the 'inside prison walls' shows on MSNBC and I'm certain they be some ol' boys in there who could whoop me 6 times out of 7 w/o breaking a sweat.

And that does them exactly how much good?

Picking fights online from a safe distance is not impressive. Plenty of people doing that in person all over the planet as we speak. Do yourself a favor and figure out something useful to do that you can point with pride to someday.

Most internet service providers will have no hesitation in not only producing the records, but in identifying the user.

I worked at a service provider years ago, and the secret service showed up, wondering who was using a particular IP address from which the then-current President's SSN was posted online.

He left with the requested information in about ten minutes. You don't literally "pour through" the millions of records. You do a quick search. They do own computers at ISP's, you know.

The log files have gotten huge now.
They were massive when I was in the game a few years ago.
I kept about a weeks worth of log files.
And it was a very small ISP I was working for.

But you could grep for the information,
but you would have to know what you were looking for first.

If you grepped for a single ip on a single day you would be lible
to get thousands of hits.

But it can be done if necessary.

Actually, I didn't even have to use grep. Rather, I had previously spent a few hours to create a nice web interface. Enter text in a field, click a button or two, and a few seconds later the culprit pupped up.

These days, I would be archiving the short-term information in a database. A good database engine can do queries like this very, very quickly. The size of the file is almost immaterial.

I like my style of verbal exibitionism.
I guess I am just working on being a better writer.

I just like being myself.
Maybe someday I will change.
And become someone else...

I had to bring up the clearance because of knightriders966 nutty idea
to turn me in to the department of homeland security.
I was not going to let that dude jepordise my wifes work in any way.
If I was bragging I sure waited a long time to say it.

Some people will call it picking a fight.
I like calling it a verbal debate.
And isint that what we are hear for.
To talk to each other about our ideas ?

I was describing my physical features and body mass index
because the dude called me fat or someting.
I am not gonna try to kick anyones ass.
I dont like pain at all....

I nearly killed a guy in a fight one time.
He got his hand caught in my back pocket
and I nearly drug him to death while trying to run away.

It has been rainy here for the last coupla days
When the sun comes out I will go back outside
and leave you guys alone.

Have Fun !

True,
I have been out of the game for about 5 years now.

Oh well, when I first broke into this scene back in late '04, I went on wayy too long about all sorts of things. Later I'd re-read some of it and think, 'Good Lord dude, put a sock in it.'

It is good writing practice, all in all. I'm still trying to get the hang of the old saw: the soul of wit is brevity.

Too much brevity is vague, not enough is tiresome.
