Do these aftermarket headlights require a euro connector or is that only for the OEM Bosch? |
If your car is a US-spec model and the headlight assembly is anything like the W201 assembly, then I take it that you will need a pair of Euro-spec connectors when switching to euro headlights. I don't think the DEPOS came with them as I recall having to go to the dealership and buying them for a fairly civil price. US-spec headlight connectors have four pins whereas Euro-spec have six pins, if I'm not mistaken. Now, disclaimer, this setup is what I used for my W201 190E (it may also apply to the W124 300E):
US-spec...................Euro-spec pin 2 (brown wire) --> goes into pin 2 pin 1 (green wire) --> goes into pin 6 pin 3 (yellow wire) --> goes into pin 5 pin 4 (white wire) --> goes into pin 4 Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the help Frosty. |
bump. Anybody know if I need Euro connectors for the DEPO headlights?
|
Yah, you need the plugs.....
I got like 5 extra sets.... PM me your address, and they will be sent this weekend. |
^^^ What he said. Installation is pretty straightforward, and there is an excellent tutorial on aiming them here: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

I am not sure if you are still searching but I got my clears from Bekkers.
Here is the link for the 124 signals: http://www.bekkers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1248260-7-8&Category_Code=mtsighteclass Bottom of the page has them for $52 a piece. I have had mine in for several years now with no problems. Also, if you want to save money on bulbs, take your regular amber bulbs and get some high temp silver paint. Just put a very light coat on them, just enough o hide the amber color. The light will still shine through but when they are off, you wil not see the amber color in your clear lights. Works great. |
Got my DEPO clear corner's today.
I LOVE them. They fit perfect, they look great and they feel good quality-wise. I cannot hardly notice a different at all between the OEM Bosch and DEPO ones. I think I will definitely order the DEPO euro headlights too. I need some amber bulbs for the clear corners though. I don't like the white bulbs in it. Its not highway legal either technically. |

FWIW, I have a set of (new, never installed) Depo clear corners I probably won't be using. If anyone's interested, PM me an offer. Thanks!

Just gotta get my headlights now as the clear corners are in and euro connectors soon. |
If you are going to spend almost $700 at bekkers for 300E bosch euro lights, go with the 500E hella euro lights for about $850-900. Go over and look on 500Ecstasy.com for more info on the 500E euro lights.
500E euros have chromed insides and driving lights instead of fog lights. If you prefer foglights, then go with bosch. This has been discussed in many posts. I think www.puma-access.com or performance products has better pricing than bekkers. For that matter, Ill sell you my near new 300E euro bosch ones for $700 and Ill buy the 500E euros for my car! =) I even have an extra 300E/TE vacuum adjust kit, complete. Ive got a right bosch lense if you are still looking, several I think. You must email me, not PM. TYC, Depo, etc are great and all, but you can't get replacement lenses, or at least I couldnt get them. At least with Bosch or hella you usually can, but they command a premium. |

BTW, those "euro spec connectors' . . . is the same part as the six pin tail light connectors on the W201 and W124, so they aren't very exotic. :)

I bought some Amber euro bulbs from Pepboys using their bulb finder...but they obviously the wrong bulbs. They blink together, not separately depending on left/right blink.
n Anybody know where I can get the right amber bulbs for my clear corner blinkers? |
