Great. The headlights don't fit.
I swear I saw a fitting list and it had 88 300TE listed. He must have edited it then relisted it when I bought it. The auction ended and I PM'd him asking to relist it so I could purchase it. Am I missing something here? Why don't they fit right? |
Do they look like the ones in the auction pic? Those are W124 lights... they should work! What part doesn't fit?

It doesn't even seem to go in deep enough...The bracket on the side is too thick and the on the right side it has two rectangular holes that don't match up with the frame on the car. And there are no screw holes on the sides where the original US OEM light's had holes. I'll wait for someone who has the same lights as these to pipe in. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. EDIT: Wait a minute. The ones he shows in the pictures are different look at this!! :mad |
The slots on the side should accommodate the tabs on the corner lights... odd. Maybe you got W201 lights by accident?
|
Mine does not have that volcano thing that comes up at the top!

I think those are W201 lights. More later -- gotta run to dinner!

I got a reply from the guy asking to send pictures. So we will see what happens. I really hope I won't end up spending more money because I already spent $190 on them as it is. EDIT: Yep, they are w201. |
Worst-case scenario is you may need to pick up the return shipping tab. I would hold out for the seller to cover all the costs, however. He sent you the wrong part, so technically you can file a SNAD (significantly not as described). Don't let the seller bully you! If you do send them back for replacement, ship with some sort of tracking or delivery confirmation.
|
Looks like he said he will cover the cost of shipping via paypal if I scan the receipt and send it to them. Does that sound legit?
Sucks. I was really looking forward to get these in this week. Guess it won't be until next week before I get the right ones. |
I'm having to wait too -- I needed a lens replaced. Bummer, eh? I am itching to get these lights installed, too! I would take his word for the shipping cost thing, but that's just me. I'd go with UPS, since they automatically insure for $100 (you can buy more if you feel it's necessary but of you ship in the original packing you should be fine). They will provide you with a tracking # as well, which will prove you returned the lights should they try to pull a fast one on you.
Sorry you're having a hassle too; guess that's small price to pay given the low price we got on these lights. I think the under-$200 price tag is well worth it as long as they get things straightened out in our respective cases; good luck! Oh yeah, get their return shipping address in writing -- it may also be available in the PayPal transaction details. Be sure to ship to an address that PayPal recognizes. |

VERY Satisfied (assuming he got it right this time lol) He covered the shipping costs back. I highly recommend that seller. I am actually kinda happy though because upon shipping it back I noticed the inside lens wasn't connected right. So hopefully I don't get a damaged one this time. I'll have the lights tomorrow.
