Watch those blind lane changers

Some dumbass changed lanes into my wifes Envoy on the interstate. She swerved into the median, over corrected and tailed the guardrail at 70mph. She ended up doing a 180 across three lanes and ended up facing oncoming traffic in the emergency lane. The aforementioned dumbass kept going and NOBODY stopped to help. She called the highway patrol and he could tell what happened from the skid marks. He filed a report and let her go after removing the loose bits from the back of the truck. Shes shook up but OK.

My question is, Does anyone know of a good body shop in or around Savannah? Any help would be great. Thanks

As long as she is OK I am somewhat alright with the bill.

This idiot was passing on the right and looked her right in the eye then moved into her lane. I dont usually wish for bad things to happen to people but this one is tempting. I only wish I was driving at the time.

Seeing all the damage that has been done, she could have performed a "PIT" move on that clown and flipped him ass-over-tea-kettle on the "I" - then he'd have fun 'splainin' why she only had damage to her right front and he's got side damage and all sorts of "rubbin'" going on...

Next time, have her steer into the idiot...at least to tag his door, then have her remove her "piece" from her purse to keep everyone calm until the LEOs arrive.

BTW, with all that action happening, are you sure you don't have to "FABREEZE" the interior of that thing?

I'm sure I'd be ordering and using the 55-gallon industrial can if it had been me in that carnival ride!!

And my outer AND underwear would be in the burn-barrel...I know I wouldn't waste the time to remove the stink from them!

Glad your wife is ok and had big car to protect her. My kid had a lane changer almost get him the other day. He was on his bike (GXSR?) at the time doing about 60 in the center lane at the time, completely surrounded by traffic. Kid in lane to his right in a brand new '08 Lexus (still had temp tag), just starts coming over into his lane like Carl is not there. First my kid puts our his right leg to judge how close the guys is getting. When car touches him, Carl reaches out about six inches from handle bar and hammers drivers side mirror completely off the car with one hit. Kid dives to the right and up an exit ramp (hopefully soiled himself and new car). Carl gets off highway soon thereafter, shaken but ok. If Carl had not done something, the guy would have driven right over him and the bike. Would have loved to have heard kid explain to Dad why new car is missing mirror.
My kid has not told his mother this story...she would need the clean underwear.

BobK,
The only way to combat blind lane changers on a motorcycle is to make yourself as visible as possible, including lots of extra lights on the bike and bright clothing.
It also means driving somewhat aggressively and moving around a bit back and forth, left and right in the lane to make sure people see you that way too.
It may appear a little erratic, but when people back off due to the wavy motorcycle rider (who is in complete control of the machine at all times), it is much safer.

Good Morning to you from chilly Chicago!

I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am you're wife was involved in an accident. Fortunately you'll be able to put this nasty business behind you.

X2 from chilly DC!

I was run off the road in the Suburban by an agressive lane changer on I270! I mean both the 'burban and your wife's Envoy are not small cars that could be 'missed' by somebody changing lanes. I think what happened to her was deliberate.

I have vowed that next time I am holding my ground and letting the idiot hit me and I am usually the guy who waves people in front of me at intersections and will leave room for someone to pass me if they put their blinker on. I am getting tired of the way people are over agressive on the roads...

Hey by the way... the Envoy went off road hit a guardrail, spun into traffic and came to rest pointing into traffic at 70mph and that is the extent of the damage? I want one of those! You picked a real tough little truck!

Finally got around to fixing the Envoy.

It was worse then it looked. The panel was tweaked from the well to the pin stripe.

After a bunch of body hammering and measuring:

I'm going Monday to get some paint quotes and some PDR for some dings on my Silverado.

The best way to combat these morons is to either jump into another lane, or if they hit you hold your ground.

A few years ago I was buzzing in the center lane down I91 when some crack head in a POS Chevy wagon gets on and merges into the center where I was! I noticed a car all of a sudden on the edge of my vision to the right and looked over just in time to make eye contact and realize he was coming at me! So I moved into the far left lane, and WTF he was still coming so I nailed the brakes. I still can't beleive I missed him, I got lucky.

I'm glad that day I didn't have a gun on me because I probably would have put a few rounds into him.

Thankfully, your wife is fine and the vehicle can be repaired.

However, take this opportunity to reflect on the general instability of all SUV's and the inability of most people to manage them in an emergency.

In reality, nobody needs one of them and her experience should set off a warning bell that it's the wrong vehicle for anyone but a very skilled driver. In reality, due to it's fuel economy.........it's the wrong vehicle for just about everybody.

It's highly unlikely that she would have lost control of a sedan in a similar situation...........a warning for everyone who owns one of these vehicles.

Well I got lucky because of 3 things:
1. I noticed him at the right second.
2. The left lane was clear and traffic was very light, and the road very wide, so I had plenty of room.
3. The W126 can handle and brake very, very well at 70. Hold on and trust the car you can do one hell of an emergancy lane change if you need to! Crank that wheel over and nail the brakes, if the tires are good and the car is in good shape, she will do what she is supposed to do. If I was in a lesser car I might have ran into some trouble.

I should have brought them to the GTG, my uncle has pictures from a year or so ago of a brand new Trailblazer that rolled over in FL. Something stupid caused it to roll, but the kicker was the entire roof collapsed! I have seen pictures of MB's that rolled and its not unusual to find a lot of the glass not broken. But this POS was resting at an angle on the front of its hood, all the way back to the rear doors was flat. Luckly the driver was a small women and kind of got pushed up in what was left.

You would be safer in an SL in a rollover than one of those POS.
