And earthquakes aren't the only natural disaster to befall them and aren't the worst as far as lives lost and property damage.

Floods in China

Looks like floods are doing less damage to China in recent years, perhaps due to water management. Earthquakes can not be predicted, only better building codes can help there, like in Japan.

Maybe it will slow their economy a little. Will it hurt us?

Chinese economy slowdown

Not unless you work for walmart.

It is inhumane and morally bankrupt to wish to keep the Chinese living in the
18th century...But every day they are not a "Developed" nation...extends our
American life of Luxury.

In 5 years if 1/4 of the people in china with cellphones call the US at the same time...
it will gridlock the US domestic phone system...busy signals instead of dial tones.

I didn't realize that Bush's global warming policies extended back in the time line as fas as that. He really is an evil genius.

I'm not sure then but IIRC, there was an earthquake device I saw in some history books.

Truly. Also reports of degrees of damage. That's why the USGS website asks if you felt an earthquake and asks taht you describe its effects.

That's how the Richter Scale got it's start, IIRC. If it takes down a brick house it's a 6 etc. Only later were people able to apply an energy scale to the Richter.
