Not here. I don't even care for College Football. Some NFL (Dallas Cowboys and definitely the cheerleaders) yes. Don't care for soccer at all.

Yes

Following my team....Portugal!

2-0 win over Turkey, they play Czech Republic tommorow...

Hopefully they will make up for their embarassing loss to Greece on their home turf in 04. I really only follow Portugal, as they are the team of my heritage (and also quite good). I liked the "Golden Generation" of Figo, Pauleta(who was born in the same town in the Azores as my father) and Rui Costa, but also excited to see this young talent develop. Ronaldo, Quaresma, Moutinho, Nani, and quick defenders like Miguel, Bosingwa, give me hope for a win this go around. They are a good all around team; maybe nothing special with actually strikers, but amazing variety of attacking midfielders and setup guys (Deco). Stalwart defensive backs like Carvalho, Meira, and others also add to the line up.

Can't wait to see them clean some Czech clock tommorow.

..I sure hope we will meet Portugal somewhere in the tournament: that nasty encounter two years ago needs to be set straight What was it, five red cards? Probably the best team around, not to mention the best player on the planet: RONALDO

Ha

Yes it was a crazy game a few years ago, vicious penalties on both sides. Just happy you guys beat those greasy Italian bastards.

I'm interested now. Having been born in Singapore, I always saw soccer games all over since the weather was hot and humid all year round. Maybe it isn't so bad after all.

We played exceptionally well on Monday, but clearly the Azzurri's underestimated the game grandissimo aswell. They'll bounce back I'm sure: they are far from finished yet.
Portugal had a really tough time yesterday despite the score in the end. The Czech's pushed their midfielders Deco, Ronaldo and Simao very hard, which disrupted their game seriously. Portugal's goalkeeper doesn't seem to be very good either. Still, it's the best team so far.

I enjoyed the water ballet game between Turkey and Switzerland much, although both won't make the quarter finals anymore, I think. Germany-Croatia this evening will be a great match to watch.

Cheers,
V.

..with so much distraction around, it's hard to keep attention on the game

Yes the Portuguese midfield can be pressed hard, they maybe are not the best on defense. But they can attack very quickly, and as you know Ronaldo's individual skills can tear defenses apart. Quaresma is quite good too.
The goalie Ricardo is actually pretty good...his stopping of three straight penalty kicks against England...the thing is he makes spectacular saves that leave you scratching your head, and then falls victim to really crap shots.

Swiss will be the next victims on the 15th, and your guys will realize how hard it is to play football in wooden shoes when our teams meet Hopefully not so penalty filled.

Also happy to see the upset in Croatia vs. Germany. I was angry over how the German team's two best strikers are Polish, and they go on to clean Poland's clock. Happy they got put in place. Granted, Deco is Brazilian and some of the Portuguese players were not born in Portugal per say...but Podolski and Klose are both 100% Polish.
