Va. is beautiful. My wife has relatives there. Lots of windy roads there and dense vegetation!
Thanks for all the well wishes, guys!

The property is in great condition and is move-in ready. It was built in 1986. The previous owners didn't know that they would be transfered by their jobs and had invested $50,000 into it over the last three years: new garage door, granite counter tops in the kitchen, new tile in kitchen and master bath, new tileing in separate glass shower, new roof, new paint, and new windows throughout (all 29 of them!). All we're having done is the wood floors on the first floor resanded and finished before we move in on July 19th.

And yes, I've already been looking at lawn mowers. I'm planning to get a Craftsman self-propelled mower that can also mulch. My brother has one and after 12 years it still runs like new. I'll be putting synthetic oil into it from day one. I'll also be looking at electric clippers and all that stuff. At least now I know what I'll be doing every weekend for the summer!

Hi Stefano and congratulations! I hope you enjoy home ownership as much as we have over the years of rearing children, pets, and gardens.

Best wishes to you.

My wife already has a plan for some of the rose bushes in the yard! As for me, I'm planning to raise some herbs and tomatoes on the deck.

But that's after I set up my garage, complete with a state-of-the-art "vintage" sound system to listen to when waxing the car.

Just remember my advise: get a Craftsman mower that has rear wheel drive.

They'll have several models with both front wheel and rear wheel drive, and front wheel drive is a mistake. As you mow and the catcher fills up with clippings, there is more and more weight transferred to the back of the mower, and tends to lift the front wheels off the ground, causing you to have to push down on the handle so that the front wheels can get traction.

Buy a riding mower that your wife finds comfortable and easy to handle.

Ha Ha! Good idea!! Actually, we talked about it and decided to get a Craftsman like the one Paul suggested that has a key start. That way she can start it and use it if I'm ever under the weather-- or drinking a beer somewhere....
