I agree that having children isn't for everybody, but neither is marriage or even having a partner. I've noticed that people definitely act like there is something wrong with people that aren't matched and with couples that don't have children. Different people have different needs. I'm certain that people can be JUST as satisfied and feel JUST as complete as I do being married with children.

I also keep in mind that everyone has the right to enjoy their time in public places without distraction. That being said, I have had more distractions from groups of hollering and loudly laughing drinkers/smokers at restaurants than boisterous children .. although they are both annoying. My point is there are inconsiderate people on both sides of the child issue just as there are satisfied people on both sides.

I would have tacked onto your post if I wasn't busy writing mine when you posted. I subscribe to this philosophy as well.

BTW, I NEVER turn down an offer for a high 5 from a little one.

Children are irritating, annoying and very expensive. Most of my friends that had them, were in the end, very dissapointed in the way their kids ended up treating them, for all the time and money wasted in raising them. In the end... it was just fu*K YOU! I DON'T NEED YOU! See ya...! No thank you"s for sure!!!!

I imagine that attitude was expressed to the children before they adopted their attitude of disrespect toward their parents. Garbage in, garbage out.

Just my 2¢.

You could also say the same about dogs, cats, gardening, etc, etc. It all depends on what you enjoy. I don't enjoy kids so it would be very expensive a proposition. If I enjoyed high performance cars, it is not that much to drop a few grand here and there. OTOH, if I just want a car that gets me from point A to point B, any performance items are going to be expensive.

Having said that and looking at the kids that are out on the street today, I don't think that you are too far from saying that they seem like a bunch of ingrates and therefore not worth the effort

No, just society I think. Kids now are very quick with the "fu*k you's" out of their mouths and EVERY kid now thinks he/she is entitled to a friggen cell phone even in fourth grade! Kids today are SO spoiled. Little Brats! You want them? You can have them... I have one ungrateful one in college with a bad attitude. Thinks the world OWES her...

She's starting to WAKE UP!!! We cut-off her credit cards and she had to get a JOB!!!!

Society coddles NOBODY. If you have spoiled kids, try to be realistic with who you think spoiled them.

But could it be that it was expressed to the children AFTER they see the disrespect of the children?

Not always. In computer terms, yes. Human terms, not always.

Dunno about society coddling nobody. Society fosters breakdowns in discipline. Look at school discipline, or should I say the absence of it!

As to the spoiled kids comment.
Amen.

Children are going to test their limits and buck against authority just as they have since the dawn of parenting. It's the job of the parent to rise above and do what's right for their children. You can't blame the children. There are cases where perhaps a medical issue is the root of the problem or bad influence from others, but a good parent will search for the root and take proper action.

A parent shouldn't take disrespect from their child as a ticket to return the attitude. The PARENT is the ADULT.

It's not the job of the school system to raise and or discipline our children.

If you think that there's going to be any "thank yous" try holding your breath on that...

Been there... done that...

Plenty of experience... x2!
