What's your favorite hotel chain/brand?

I have recently been paying more attention to the different hotel brands and have found Choice hotels to be a pretty good deal for the money. So far their quality has been pretty consistent, their prices reasonable, and my experience with them generally very positive. The Sleep Inns I've stayed at were very nice.

What experiences have you had?

For the standard-issue hotels, Hampton Inn is tough to beat.

For a more upscale hotel, Sofitel is also tough to beat. 75% of the Four Seasons experience at generally half the cost.

For biz travel, I try to stay in Hiltons and my wife in Marriotts for the points. She travels more for business and there are many more Marriott properties than Hiltons so the points are more beneficial to us at Marriott. The points come in handy when relatives you don't like come to town and you can set them up at a Marriott Residence Inn out of respect 'for their privacy.'

I did stay at the Ritz in San Francisco last year. After a week of that, I didn't want to leave. I don't normally travel in such lofty circles, though.

I'm pretty cheap and tend to stay in cheaper places most of the time. The Choice Hotels I've stayed in lately seemed like a nice balance between cost and quality.

First thing I look at in a hotel is if it has a microwave, then sauna. I used to love luxury hotels. These days I find Best Westerns really fit my needs.

The most expensive...

When we travel with the family its usualy a time share or Marriott. Marriott's seem to always be in the best place to see things.

Choice hotels baby.

My family owns a few hotels, and choice is one of the most strict companies to be a part of. Its gotta be perfect or they take the name from you.

I like to stay in hiltons. They don't give as good a discount as choice though for owners.

Yeah, their quality does seem quite consistent. I know Marriott is a well-run hotel, too. They're usually more than I want to spend.
