Motion detecting webcam?

Is there an easy, inexpensive way to rig up a webcam to sense motion and log video or still shots? Also, what is the longest cable run or beter yet, can it be wireless?
My neighbor has had her lawnmower taken last week, yesterday a good friend came by to visit. Someone stole a change tray full of change and attemped to yank the stereo out while parked in my driveway. This happened around 2pm while five city workers are working on the street in front of the house. I suspect one of them "might" have change for a dollar now.
I'd love to catch 'em in the act.

Google "Game Cam" or "Deer Cam" Countless choices that only your wallet can help you decide.

I use a program called WebcamXP, it has a motion detector, and can put the files on a web server for you so you can see it when your not home. I think it had its built in server too if you don't have one...

I have a Panasonic Camera BL-C1A ($85-$100). Requires ethernet cable to your router; will record on your harddisk. I set the pre-trigger at 20 secs for this video. At the 20 sec mark you will see the trigger (bus), followed by approx 1 min of post-trigger all of which is adjustable. Camera is inside on window sill. Video is aprrox 5 MB.
Also is an internet camera so you can view from anywhere.
bus trigger.mpg - 4.77MB
