As for my 4th, seriously beset by stupid problems. We bought our first house about 2 mos ago. Have done *many* improvements since (all paint, flooring, appliances, light fixtures, most furniture) and I was looking forward to showing off the new house to friends. New fixture above house numbers needed exotic fluorescent bulb. 4 trips to HD/Lowes and I've got one. Wired up the spare Denon receiver off the patio to receive whatever I've got on the turntables in the house, and are set to go as we head out to Safeway at 8 pm to get chips/dip/beer for the evening (fireworks from local park with 20 guests)

Come back to Phx FD putting out the burning transformer in neighbor's backyard. No power for 1 mile radius. All the food will spoil without refrigeration, nothing to do but drink beer in the dark. Friends were good sports, but slept in yard (thanks Stella Artois) until 5:30 when power came on at sunup...

That was my 4th. Should have just watched Twilight Zone on SciFi channel, for all the good fixing bulbs and stereo gear did for the party...
