went to the range today

Eagleco and I went to the ole shooting range by his place to have a little target practice.

T'was my first time shooting a pistol. I mainly stick to long guns, and it has been a while since I've used a fire arm. The rifles in high school don't count since they were just air rifles for rifle team.

First up was the Sig Saur 9mm.. very cool. I like it but the grip was a little too wide for me

next was his buddies glock (not sure on model) but it sure was nice. There was a little button on the trigger for the laser sight. I shot better with the glock

the one I didn't shoot was the Desert Eagle .50 cal.. I'm going to wait until I'm more comfortable with hand guns.

my favorite of the day was his buddies H&K SL8, modified to resemble the G36.. Dial in the sights and you're good to go. Burned myself a couple times from the discharged rounds, who cares I was shooting pretty good with it.

Don't be intimitated by the .50 - I can shoot one pretty effectively with one hand. It's a "soft" firing pistol due to the heft and action, kind of goes: "BANG-k-chunk" when fired.

sounds more like a cannon lol

I'll give it a go next time, not saying I'll hit the target, but I'll shoot it.

Want to try something a bit different?

Try black powder...

Not quite the same...

*click* ... wait ... **WOOM!**

Just remember...when you pull the trigger and the hammer drops, DON'T YOU DROP THE BARREL!!!

Got the inside of the ring next to the bullseye on my first shot...2nd shot, bullseye, to the right...next 3, all over the bullseye...

I've never shot a black powder rifle, but is it true that how you load it can affect your accuracy?

Then there's always a black-powder cartridge. None of the delay, all of the kick and smoke.

And don't play down the air rifles so much, Don. Experience with them counts for a lot when it comes to shooting firearms.

When at the range, I practice with my Glocks (all three) twice a week. I start a "concealed carry" class next week, so I can get my permit. I'm glad Arizona is a concealed carry state.

Criminals aren't so cocky here...

Guys, don't be shy, try an RPG-7 or better yet, an RPG14.

Take it to the mall, you are guaranteed to clear out a convenient parking space no matter what used to occupy it....

Don't be afraid of the .50.

Pistols are hard to fire, you need to put a lot of rounds down range to get any good. I'm a far better shot with a long gun that a pistol. With a larger round like the .45 ACP I have a hard time firing multiple real quick and keeping them on target. You have to learn to work with the guns kick and let it pull itself back on target.

I don't imagin the .50AE is a pig to fire because its such a big gun, weight is your friend with the larger rounds. The round needs to be matched to the frame. Thats why my friends little Saturday night special in .38 sucks, he should have gotten it in .32. The .38 is a big round for that little frame.

Try the new S&W's they are pretty sweet!

It was funny when James was firing the Desert Eagle due to the fact his friend had some reloads for him. Normal load, medium, and "highest allowed grain count as per the book +a few"
