Fox: Black Panthers "Greeting" Philly Voters At Poll Location

One with a nightstick.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCeD1RcJjAg

I had to laugh, one of the Panthers accused Fox News of voter intimidation for having a camera and microphone there.

It's times like this when Fox News probably wishes it had retained some credibility.

Blocking access to a polling place sounds like a serious crime to me. If there were any reason to think that Fox would report the issue objectively, then this could be quite a story. Fox spends so much time on GOP crap, such as John Fund's fantasies about elections being stolen. How do I know that this story isn't more of the same?

If these "Black Panthers" are blocking the polls, then they should be arrested.

I have no reason to think that you have any racist intent with that comment. If Rush Limbaugh is pushing that angle, then he might be doing so with racist intent.

I haven't heard what Limbaugh said about it, so I am guessing at what this might be about. First we have Obama's speech from about a year ago where he spoke of the need for a civilian national defense force funded as well as our current national defense force. This choice of words left room for right-wingers, Bill O'Reilly is one example, to express concern that he wants to arm civilians and fund them at the same level as the military. It is a preposterous distortion of Obama's statement, but it give the O'Reilly types something to talk about.

Now, we have Black Panthers (gasp!) blocking the polls. Well, this must be part of O's new Civilian Security Force. Next thing you know armed negros will be coming to rape your wives and children.

For those who have heard Rush talk about this topic, am I close?

I don't know. I haven't read or watched any reports on this story. I will wait to see whether this turns into something worth worrying about.

Of course he says that. If people buy that line of thinking, then it will tend to discredit the critics of those whose opposition to Obama is based on racism.

This story makes me think of the time the Rolling Stones hired the Hell's Angels as a security team...

I'm sure the Obama campaign had nothing to do with this incident and would be very unhappy to hear about it. Philly just happens to be an open sewer that breeds radicals like the Black Panthers. I'm sure they scared away more Obama voters than McCain voters since the vast majority of voters there are pro-Obama anyway.

I haven't listened to all of Rush, but I have not heard ANYTHING of this sort.
He probably gets more blame for stuff imputed to him than what he actually says.

It's not even that exciting.

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/242751.php

It's hard for the GOP and Fox News to give up on whipping up fears that Obama is going to set up a black dictatorship in America where sundry pimps and gangbangers will replace the civil service and institute a reign of racial terror and compulsory miscegenation. Fox and the McCain campaign are pushing hard on this story of two men outside a polling place in Philly dressed in Black Panther garb. People affiliated with the McCain campaign showed up, to photograph or possibly provoke an incident. The police were called. One of the two guys was asked to leave; and he left. The other guys turned out to be an official poll watcher. That was probably the best resolution. As near as we can tell there's all sort of misinformation being disseminated about whites being prevented from voting, etc. We talked to an Obama campaign volunteer who saw the whole thing. And you can see her account here. This is just a kinder, gentler version of the Ashley Todd 'Carved B' mumbojumbo, another desperate Republican attempt to whip up racial hysteria to give them hope of winning the election.

Maybe a couple skin heads blocking a polling place would be more newsworthy. I'm sure it would be to ^^

Sounds to me like cooler heads prevailed here. Punks all over the place. Fortunately this was an obstruction that was easily dealt with.

There are white crackers who wanted to kill students at black schools and eventually kill Obama, using guns stolen from gun stores. Are you as concerned about them as these two wanna-be panthers?
