I have been with Sprint for, oh, about 8 years now I guess. I finally got a smart phone (Treo) and decided I wanted to try some of the goodies, so I kept calling the retention folks 'til someone offered me a sweet deal to stay with Sprint. I get the Vision plan, 500 free text messages, 300 anytime mins, unlimited picture mail, free nights & weekends starting at 7pm, 50 free roaming minutes, etc... for $30/month. At that price, I can deal with the occasionally spotty coverage out in the country.

Anyway, I am pretty happy with the Palm Centro. I wouldn't want to have touch-screen only (unless it was an iPhone -- those are nice, but no dice with Sprint service), so the Centro seems to be a nice compromise.

I am a holdover from Cingular days, and I seldom have ATT problems.

Blackberry, but it looks like Google Android is going to rule the show....wait a little longer.

If you only get 450 minutes then the plan is 69.99 plus my 15% discount is a little under 60. If you get unlimited minutes then it is 99.99. I haven't gone over 300 minutes in a year and a half being on 450 minutes. Like I mentioned earlier the GF has sprint and the vast majority of my minutes are free to her.

After complaining to Sprint about the SAmsung Ace and it's poor performance enough times they gave me an Instinct for free(and let me keep the Ace) and I gotta say it's a pretty awesome phone.

The reception is excellent, the messaging features are out of this world and the touch screen is easy to use.

Glad to hear yours is working out for you, Plantman. Neither of the ones we had worked very well as phones. The TV and radio reception was pretty iffy. The GPS would frequently lose its signal, resulting in "looping" directions. In other words, it would have me going around and around in circles as it picked up and then lost the signal. I also found the touch screen keyboard difficult to use, but that's just me.

Now, I'm considering either the Rant, the LG Lotus, or maybe the HTC Diamond Touch.

I still have mine, and although there are a few quirks overall I am very satisifed with it.

My biggest complaint is that twice when answering a phone call it has froze up on me. A simple shutdown and restart solved it but still a nusciance.

Other than that I have no major complaints. The GPS has worked fine for me but I rarely need it. I use it more for traffic and time/distance to places than a guide for directions.

The TV is pretty iffy, but hey, how many phones have TV on them? The radio works well for me but it eats the battery so quickly I hardly use it.

The web browsing is much better than a standard moblie phone but I can't compare it to an I phone or anything because I've never used one.

I'd recommend it.

I recently went on the sprintuser.com forum and found a lot of opinion both pro and con for the Instinct. There were sever threads labeled "Instink," so I know at least someone besides me had problems with theirs, too.

My conclusion from all of your comments as well as the ones on the Sprintuser.com is that some people love them and some hate them. I was disappointed, because I was pretty pumped up about the Instict when I bought it. I'm sorry it didn't work out for me.

I think there was a lot of hype over it. I remember seeing ads daily on TV for it. I'm sure some people had very high expectations when they got it. Perhaps some people thought they were getting a mini-laptop.

Remember the old saying- You can't please everyone all the time but you can get a better view with your head up a butcher's a#s?? Or something like that...

Another good rule of thumb I was reminded of after having problems with mine was never buy the first one of some new technology. Gen II usually works much better.

With Christmas fastly approaching there are so many ads for cell phones. Most that I see are some form of a touch screen. I'm sure by next summer Sprint will be back out with a new version. Of course I'll have my Instinct for another 2 years now.

I refuse to pay full price for a phone when I am a long-standing customer and anyone off the street that is not a customer can walk in and get one for half or even a fourth of what I would pay. So I have to wait until my contract expires to get another one.
