couple of sources

The following 2 sites have lots of info. I was looking at 2 mid sized cameras a couple of years ago. I went to a Best Buy or other big box and tried their demo units. The Cannon had slightly better lens and picture reviews, but the Sony focused and actually took the picture more quickly. That was important for me taking sports pictures of the kids. See how they feel in your hands too and how the main controls work.

Digital cameras EAT batteries. If your camera uses regular disposable batteries, find the best rechargables you can. I forget the designation, but something like LiH ... the camera sites will have the info. The camera will focus and store the picture much more quickly with good battery.
