The "Bored in Dallas" GTG

Question?

How do several MercedesShop members who have no contact information or visual identification find each other in another city?

Answer.

Hope like heck they drove up in an MB!

Such was the case for davidmash, but not for iwrock. Oh well, plan B is look for the guys with the blank stares and "I'm lost" kinda expression.

I showed up first at Genghis and got a table. Some time later, I noticed a lone gent pacing in front of the storefront for 10 minutes or so, I concluded that he must be one of us! So I met davidmash.

Later, iwrock and friend entered the building. It was getting late by then, and few customers were around, so we assumed they were looking for us.

No AdvisorGuy though (hope you feel better)...but davidmash had a bowl for you!

Here we are in the restaurant.

Clockwise from left: davidmash, iwrock and friend, and yours truly.

Sorry for pic quality...it was around 11PM by this time, so it's hard to take in the looks of the exceptional rides that graced the parking lot.

Despite this being an MB gathering, iwrock friend's 06 BMW Dinan was the center of attention...again, the pics do no justice!

Carbon fiber hood, anthracite rims, massively wide tires, performance exhaust, and a whole host of other goodies!

I guess they financed their trip by fencing stolen auto parts...

Up next...davidmash's sweet 190E!

His car sports the anthracite EVO rims, body kit, tinted windows, and euro headlights to complete the look:

He itemized a "laundry list" of items replaced over the years (needed or not), that would almost put the car in an NOS category...

...and finally, my daily driver.

The old W124 is plagued with an occasional engine miss issue, but the rear-firing subwoofer kept me moving along. I demo'ed the sound system later on using my daughter's iPod selections...

Here's the group having an impromptu "swap meet"...I think about 12 items will be moved about via PMs later today!

iwrock's friend wasn't too interested in MB parts...especially since he has a nice stock of Bimmer goodies in the back seat!!!

Last pic before us married folks get asked to return home...

It was great meeting up with some new friends and putting faces with names!

Thanks to all who attended. Again, sorry that AdvisorGuy couldn't be with us.

Oh well, if anyone else comes down to Dallas and finds it boring, us locals can help with an itinerary, and perhaps another quickly-formed GTG.

After all, you can only go to Fry's so many times in one week!

Looks like you had fun.

It will be fun coming back to CA in that BMW, there will be places you can probe the limits of its top speed

I highly recommend cleaning the wheels exhaust tips, and the bugs off the windshield mirror backs and bumper each time you put gas in.

I just completed an over 2k road trip and this worked very well as did the GARMIN nuvi GPS I bought, programmed and put in, before leaving Las Vegas yesterday

The upper speed range has already been explored according to anonymous sources. The source said that 143 is quite exciting and the car is stable as a rock. How ever road conditions and courage prevented him from going faster.

LOL. Indeed.

Its was awesome meeting davidmash as well as G-Benz. They are both super funny in real life. I dont think we stopped laughing the whole time we were having dinner.

G and davidmash, figure out what you guys need, and I will dig it out of long term storage.

Oh yes, and us young guys felt real young when we didnt know some of the stuff you were talking about.
