I had another uncomfortable dream last night featuring DT as our president....talk about a nightmare, and when I wake up it does not go away!

They used to drive the pin end down into the marrow area of the bone and still do I imagine. I wondered what precautions they used to insure the length of the leg remained the same at the time.

Any form of a scan of the bone might give them the size in diameter of the shank portion to order I suppose. A point of expected stoppage of the driven taper portion. Into the known diameter of the marrow area of the bone. Also some alignment provision has to be made to not give you a toe in or out so to speak. With that leg.

The great thing is hip joint replacements seem in general to work out well.
Yes the mechanical side of it is astonishing to me. ....and it appears he got it spot on even considering he had to correct for the previous hip surgeon's F up.

Sorry to hear its not working better for her. Sounds like she should have done it sooner? When my left knee replacement of knee straightened the leg out everything else just got used to it and in a hurry. It was bowed out maybe an inch.

In my experience in a year or less I have to stop and think which parts have been replaced and which have not....so, yes, I imagine in a year it will all pull together and work well for her.

Today I started perambulating around the house a bit without cane or walker. Still using the walker when outside though. Its still pretty tender.

Mentally the worse is over as it is done though. That is a good thing in itself.

Not really. I had no anxiety about it at all.

That is great. Not exactly heavy apprehension in my case. Instead just a not looking forward much to what they want to do to me at times.

I don't really focus on the negative too much.

My Dad when he had bypass surgery was very relaxed about it I thought. I asked why. He said he just put it in God's hands.

I am not very religious but at this point of my life if I went on the table I would probably not feel shorted.

Today the pain is markedly less. The general swelling in the leg is noticably less too. I am taking less pain meds as well.

I'm down to taking 1/4 of a 500 mg percoset every eight followed by a 500 mg tylonal every eight staggered by 4 hours.

Now I find if I am getting uncomfortable if I get up and stretch and walk around a bit it will often negate the need for the pain meds.

I also feel good enough that i volunteered to show apartments this afternoon.

Today the leg began to feel almost normal when stationary. Very mild pain to walk without the cane or walker but enough to make a pronounced limp. With the cane or walker though excellent progress can be made.

I drove today. Operating my clutch in the VW did not cause any mechanical pain but sitting on the side bolster with my incision right there was uncomfortable.

Lovely weather here last two days.

Cheers!

The swelling has gone down so much the leg feels pretty much normal now with a couple of tender places where they clamped it down. Still some pain but I am near being able to sleep in my normal bed.

Sleeping in the recliner and or on the couch is not very restful but once I am up and around in the morning by 10 am or so I am feeling pretty decent.

Today it is snowing....so far not much accumulation on the ground as it was above freezing. Hope it stops. I don't really want to do snow removal today if avoidable.
