If you go to youtube, does your system slow down significantly? You would have to disable java scripts - takes the fun out of a lot of pages though - I hear IE8 has addressed this quite well.
ActiveX files sometimes do goofy things - get rid of all of them...your system will fetch them as it needs them. Tools>Internet Options>Settings>View Objects. If you are apprehensive about deleting all of them, delete the ones that are damaged, or unknown.

I don't think I would be able to get the 280 ready in time - it has been on the back burner for a while now, while I sell the 420, get the 300D ready for sale, and clean up the yard so the soffit/facia installers can do their thing.
