Ryder Cup thoughts.....
....for the three of you that will watch it
![]() My brother and I could have written this article by jotting down past discussions after attending abysmal Ryder Cups over the years. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?section=magazine&id=3579293 |

Damned hurricane!
Last year I busted a couple of greenies. Man, I had forgotten how good they taste! I had high hopes for last weekend until Ike screwed it for me. Spent the better part of the weekend in parking lots in a line of boats waiting for the call-up. Never came. Ate a lot of MRE's. Nobody could starve on MRE's. How many calories are in those dang things? made boudin feel like lo-cal. (sorry about the hijack, but you mentioned teal!). B |

Hard to tell if true, but in this area, I heard about more limits of teal from last weekend than I can ever remember. I'll go Saturday morning, probably about it. Wish I could make it to Esterwood--great place there you can hunt them standing around like at a dove shoot (Maison du Speck).

I am trying to think of a sporting event that is of less interest to me than the Ryder Cup. So far, I'm coming up empty.

![]() I don't really enjoy even watching it on TV much anymore, for the reasons stated in the article. I quit attending matches ten years ago. |

While visiting Midland, Ontario several years ago, the wife and I went to the municipal curling facility. The local curling club was holding a competition. As luck would have it, we sat next to a gentleman who is very well known in Canadian curling circles. He was a nationally ranked player and his son was on the defending Canadian national champion curling team. He explained the game and told us what to watch for. It was a most enjoyable evening. Curling is like a lot of things. Once you know a little bit about it, it becomes more interesting to watch. It made me somewhat of a curling fan.
Go figure. |

Hey Bot I finally learned how to play Bouree weekend before last and did not lose my shirt. Hurricanes and all, ya know. I like the game. Not as complicated as I first thought, but easy to run up a big pot. |

It's an exponential pot. Gets people who cannot help but think linearly. OOOF! Like me! |

I like it because you can "cheat" and if you don't get caught, you win. Hard to not get called out by a coonass if they're paying attention, though. I called out some of the other newbies who tried to bluff early and made a pretty good stake, then played very conservative.
