Has "The Holidays" Decended On Your Town Yet?

Over the last two weeks, Macy's in Hawaii has installed their holiday decorations, full on trees and ornaments on sale.

I remember there was always something that just didn’t quite feel right about Christmas in Hawaii. Still not sure what it was. Just not the atmosphere I grew up with before we moved there I guess.

Havent seen much of it here yet. Lots of folks talking about how the economy will be affecting it though. Lots of “tight budget” talks.

I haven't noticed yet but I'm sure it's coming any day. The retailers will be making a huge push trying to salvage the poor sales forecast.

I don't mind it. I'm still a big kid at heart and get into it even though it's gotten so commercial. I stay focused on the family traditions part and it allows me to enjoy it.

Decades ago, retailers started "Xmas-izing" just after Halloween...not so anymore.

They now start in early to mid-October, as yearly holiday retail sales slowed and gloomy pre-recession forecasts loom over the horizon.

Just after I got my backyard in shape, I went to Lowe's. Home Depot, Walmart, etc., to window shop for patio furniture...no such luck! Stored away to make room for Christmas decorations!

Slight thread hijack: Walked though one of the Christmas sections in Walmart and they had a HALF-aisle of ornaments exclusively for Hanna Montana!!! Now I like Miley Cyrus, a fairly stable role model for girls, given the alternative celebs out there, but does anyone else feel she's a bit "over-merchandised"???!!!

Just came back from Home Depot California ... the entire entrance area has turned into a Christmas Tree Lot. Artificial, ofcourse.

They didn't play the music yet ...

Our local Lowes is in full Christmas swing with fake trees and crap that lights up.

Christmas is way to commercialized.
