Election results?

What are the odds on Obama and on the Dems in general this election? I have the sense that they'll really trounce the Republicans and that Obama will end up with a clear mandate from the popular vote.

I don't say this with any particular prejudice either way. I just get the sense that people will vote Democrat this year whether they're voting FOR the Dems or just to be voting AGAINST the Republicans. I'm a Republican who has had enough of their poor leadership and their failure to follow their party platform.

What do you think?

Damned hard to say,Chap.

From our bivouac here at Rorke's Drift we can hear the distant rustle of arms along with the rhythmic beat of the war drums from across the mighty Mzinyathi river.

Boer scouts and disaffected tribesmen from Natal have reported anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 Zulus,a sobering though as we have only 139 soldiers and the ammo for our Martini-Henry longarms is dangerously low.

I'll dispatch a messenger somewhat later as the day progresses, must have the men round up every available stone and piece of wood for fortification.

1 to 4 odds. I don't see any way it's not a blowout unless the latent racism in the voting booth is more widespread.

I tend to agree. There's a better than even chance that I'll vote 3rd party for the same reason you stated. I've voted locally for fiscally Conservative Democrats in the past so I am able to pull the lever but Obama's not even remotely close.

It was the same in Virginia, Peter. Did Ron Paul actually get on the ballot anywhere?

In CT our choices are:
McCain, Obama or Nader. Or we could write in for Baldwin, Moore, McKinney or Calero.

Barr was excluded, ironically, because some of the information pertaining to the 12,000 signatures submitted (7500 required to get on ballot) was deemed insufficient.

The same scrutiny was not applied to voter registration.

No, oddly enough, Louisiana had Baldwin (Constitution Party) and Paul (Louisiana Taxpayers Party), as well.

McKinney? Isn't that the loud, obnoxious creature who objected so strenuously to having to undergo security procedures in Washington? She's running for Prez???

Paul added to Louisiana presidential ballot

By Tom Bonnette • tbonnette@thetowntalk.com • October 12, 2008

When Louisiana voters go to the polls to chose a president on Nov. 4, they will find a name on the ballot many might not expect - Ron Paul.

Louisiana will be only one of two states where voters will have the opportunity to pull the lever for Paul, a congressman from Texas who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination. Paul built a wide coalition of grass roots support that helped him raise tens of millions of dollars for his campaign.

Paul has been added to the Louisiana ballot on the top of the Louisiana Taxpayers Party ticket with Barry Goldwater, Jr., a former Republican congressman from California and the son of the late Barry Goldwater, the Republican presidential nominee in 1964.

Paul and Goldwater are on the ballot due partly to the efforts of an Alexandria man, Brent Sanders.

Sanders, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully in the past as a Libertar
