rum+cider=good...

Damn this is a very good seasonal drink. Just very sweet, so you really should stop at 2. If you go over that you will want to kill yourself, MASSIVE headache!

But its good, you can have it warm to.

Unfortunately, Hawaii is a "cider-free" zone. Been to Whole Foods and all the other "Natural" food stores in town . . . just doesn't travel well.

You guys are out in the middle of the big pond. All the cider we get here is local, since as you said it doesn't travel.

Yup, sometimes a person really gets tired of mango, guava, pineapple, passion fruit . . with rum.

Cider and rum is good.So is apple whiskey or calvado.

While I get my apple wine from a place in North Stonington,I have friends here on the island who have an orchard and make/sell cider.

They also will take the mash, usually a blend of sweet and sour apples, distill it,the let it age for a few years.Of course it's not offered for sale

Their family came from Alsace-Lorraine and apparently distilling apples was quite the thing over there. The stuff is very smooth, packs a punch and there is but the slightest hint of apples in the taste.I am told apple liquer is more flavorful but this I am told is difficult to get right.

Scotch + bit 'o water = better!

My favorite time of year. Days are about 60 degrees, nights are about 40.

Getting into Scotch drinking weather, best time of year - I miss raising a dram in the summer when it's 90+.

My wife made a batch of Hot Cider Toddy for the trick-or-treat stroll. It really does hit the spot when the temps drop.

It was with Capt. Morgans and Hot Damn. It'd warm you even if it wasn't heated.

With the cooler weather moving in, I was in the mood for something other than my usual Skyy Vodka cocktails for a change. I decided that a bottle of Jaegermeister sounded good.

I come from a strong German heritage on both sides of my family. My grandparents on both sides both came from Germany, and both drove Mercedes. I grew up eating much German food. My grandparents taught me much of the German language and I learned much more in college.

I don't know if many of you have developed a taste for Jaegermeister, but it's a very tasty drink icy cold, right from the freezer! Watch out though, it is 70 proof! It's good to do a few shots while drinking a good German bier (beer) also! Guten tag!

Bad experiances with that stuff, don't touch it anymore! I woke up half frozen on the front porch of a trailer!
