MB Extended Warranty Pricing
Does anyone know the current MB Extended Warranty Pricing. I'm currently negotiating to buy a new MB and the dealer has quoted $3495 retail for a 1-year extended warranty but which he can give me for $2900. The last info I have is from 2006 which had a 1-year for the E- or M-class at $1845.
Thanks, bigmaq

I never buy extended warranties. They're a good way to waste money. Which MB are you buying?

The 2009 R350. I wish it was the diesel R320 but wife says no more diesels.
Right now I'm looking at $1,500 over invoice. I drive 20K miles per year and the new-car warranty will be used up in 2.5 years. The extended warranty brings it to 5 years and 100K miles. The MB extended actually looks good, i.e., no deductible, transferable, very good coverage.

Don't listen to your wife. Get the diesel! She probably won't even notice. The gas R-class is a horrible guzzler while the diesel at least gives semi-decent mileage. Plus a turbodiesel engine is more suitable for such a large, heavy vehicle anyway, and now they even come in the Bluetec form, so they have totally clean exhaust.
If you drive that much (a really good reason to get the diesel), the extended warranty might be worth it. Just read the fine print carefully and see what it actually covers and what your responsibilities are. I probably still wouldn't purchase it even in your situation, but that's just me.
