I say don't take on debt period end of story. If you can't pay cash for it, don't buy it.

Sharp owns and invented some ground breaking LCD tech, most other LCD TVs are licensed from them, they are excellent in terms of performance in the LCD realm. I would say its a good purchase.

Two points to keep in mind...and neither have anything to do with financing...
#1.) It's a sellers' market right now...the latest chipsets have been out there for about 3 months and you're only buying the last of latest run...it's just before X-mas and EVERYONE is going to want the "latest/greatest" there is in time for the bowl-games and the playoffs...watch everyone else's and be happy you waited... #2.) With the digital transition coming and analog TV going bye-bye starting at 12:00.01 AM on 17 February 2009 (Some markets are starting sooner with the FCC's blessing), again the market will be in favor of the seller...prices are going to be high and bargains will be few and far between until the summer months starting rolling in and temperatures start climbing...everyone will be looking to be outside and in the sun (hard to watch TV with all that back-round light) so the marketeers will be hawking the latest/greatest with teaser pricing and loss-leader specials. Wait 'til July/August to get a real TV that you'll be happy to have on any wall of your home. As for me? I just got my 2 coupons from Uncle Sammy and will just pick up the converter boxes and watch the downconverted pics on my 27" and 19" in the living room and bedroom respectively... BTW, I hear the SONY BVR (the next version after the Bravia) is suppose to be the best looking for the buck and is reasonably priced regardless of any size it comes in. Remember, I just work in the TV Broadcasting business...I'm not representing any make, brand or model...just "WOM"... Good luck out there!
