Quantum of Solace
Anyone seen it yet? Not as good as Casino Royale, I think, but still very, very good. That opening scene with the car chase: classic. Hope they keep Craig for a long time: best 007 ever.

I enjoyed it, but it lacked the humor previous great Bond movies had. Connery and Brosnan had a subtle wit and swagger with their portrayal of Bond that I miss.

Transporter 3 and Quantum
I think Transporter 3 was better, the car chases at least. But a bit over the top, driving the Audi on two wheels. The chase with the the baddies in the debadged E350 Mercedes Benz was good; Those new E classe sedans in black look pretty nice.
The heroes are pretty serious. James Bond never even smiled or laughed ONE TIME. Why Jason Stratham had to take off his shirt so many times for no apparent reason was ridiculous, I don't care about seeing his 6 pack abs. But the fight scenes were well done though the entire movie required a suspension of disbelief. The Russian actress was absurd: "Make play time with me" The cinematography was great in both movies though. Plot? Mua hahahahahahahaha Good fun if you like to watch car chases, exotic locale cinematography, and unpleasant looking pouting petulant youngish females in sexy sleeveless dresses. (Both of them looked like they would make some man a dreadful little wife one day) Go to the matinee, though. Not worth full pop admission for either movie.

I enjoyed it. Craig is certainly impressive, but having starting watching this series since the beginning pretty much, it is hard to think of anyone else but Sean Connery coming to mind as the perfect Bond.

Craig does a good job. He's the best one since Connery. Craig's was the best version of "Casino" that has been made, IMO. I look forward to "Quantum." |

I saw it Saturday night. I'm not quite the 'Bond purist' so I enjoyed it.
I can see how the purists would not like having so much action in a Bond movie.

My pal Joris turned me on to Spoorloos and that film really grabbed me.

I am a James Bond fanatic and I think any series of movies that is 45 years long does need some reinvention and or some evolution to differentiate them over time. Pierce Brosnan had issues with the character being too cheesy. Roger Moore is unhappy with the lack of tongue- in-cheek humor.
Similarly Living Daylights and License to Kill never really got any sort of attention. When asked "Who is your Favorite Bond?" who ever says Timothy Dalton?

Never could appreciate Brosnan: he always looked so bored. Never new he could be funny untill Mama Mia.
