yea.. new cars.. not a good idea to pressure wash the engine compartment. just wipe the massive engine cover down with meguires and go.

We're a commercial car clean-up and strd procedure is to powerwash cowl, top of fenders and bottom of motor. Not a direct hit.

We've been doing this since the 1950's and rarely have this problem.

I had the car towed away, that's a first.

VW's are tough, there wiring is piss poor and not really sealed well. When I gunked the engine bay on the Jetta and now Golf I had strange electrical problems until they dried. You really don't want to get water under the hood of a VW.

I'm kind of surprised more don't burn to the ground.

The insulation on a wire in my Super Beetle burned off one day. I guess that is why I see a lot of VW's on the side of the road that caught fire
