I think I am going to go with a Subaru Wagon(but if I can get a good deal on a Volvo(like the one I could have gotten a few years ago for $300 that had several grand in recent receipts, which i am still kicking myself for), I may go with that), since I know them a little better, and parts will be a little easier to come by, and cheaper for the most part. Plus the AWD of the Subaru is sort of helping a bit too, since the governing bodies in my area have no budget for plowing the roads . I almost rear ended a co-worker on my drive home tonight because the roads were so bad, this sort of swayed my decision a little, since my old Subaru, even with sucky tires would have faired much better in stopping in ice with slush on top, with who knows what else (I am sure a Volvo would have faired just fine taking out his Kia Sportage, if I couldn't have stopped).
My mom is also debating this as well, since her 1994 LHS has almost 300,000 miles on it, and maybe coming close to dying. She was looking at the Volvo's (she was drove around the 240 my brother was borowing from one of his bosses) and comparing them to my brothers newly purchased Subaru, and she likes the Subaru as well (due to Seattle not plowing the roads as well).

Btw, I am super intoxicated at the moment (just finished 3 Kokanee's which is a milestone for me)...

I feel quite safe in the car, and was worried about taking it 180 miles from home to go on Reserve duty...but it made it there and back all the while pulling about 22mpg.

I wished I could afford a 240DL or 240GL when I was in college. I'm pretty happy with it right now
that car has been to hell and back.. plus we towed that delorean carcass home with it

If I could find a nice wagon with a turbo I'd be on it like white on rice
