Things to do in Lyon
Besides spending the rest of the afternoon in the most expensive craptastic hotel I've ever been in. 70's architecture/finishes/decor/mildew/stains for the win!
"Neighborhood" immediately surrounding the hotel didn't look very promising on the drive in. Gonna go start wandering about (gotta find somewhere to buy a power adapter - dumbarse me left mine at home) so we'll see if I can find anything interesting and not get into too much trouble (since my French is essentially non-existent). In the meantime, I'm counting on you kind folks to come up with some ideas. I'll be checking back in an hour, give or take - so get creative!

geez, talk about short notice...
http://www.10best.com/Lyon,France/Attractions_&_Activities/Museums/ doesn't look like a whole lot. Museum of the Risistance sounds OK.... Don't believe in planning ahead, eh? Lyon is generally regarded as having the best food in France, if you can afford it......

Don't overlook the musee des beaux-arts not the 12 century cathedral of saint Jean.

At least then the proffessionals shaved their legs. I always found it creepy to be with a gal that had more leg hair then myself.

Was just there. Power Adapter, at Carrefur, the supermarket. Costs 18 Euro for the universal adapter.
As for things to do, Lyon believe it or not, is considered by some to be the center of French Cuisine. Therefore eat!!! As for other things, get out the city and visit the smaller towns all around, some are very beautiful. Regards

Doh!
Was so overwhelmed by the craptasticness of the hotel that I forgot where I am. St. Etienne, not Lyon. Went on my standard first time in a new city walkabout (much more interesting the first time in Shunde, China when I got chased out of restaurants for taking pictures of the wide selection of four legged fur bearing sometimes considered domestic critters in the lobby) and found the 'commercial center' about 45 minutes from the hotel. Neat little maze of narrow streets, eateries, bars, shops, and miscellany. Mostly closed ![]() Did find an Orange store that had a universal travel adapter in their bargain bin for 4 euros. Grabbed that and a 6 euro USB charger for my phone and hoofed it back to the hotel. Boss is picking me up in an hour for dinner, then tomorrow is a full day of work followed by a flight to Stuttgart and drive over to Eningen. I get to play driver, since none of the other 3 guys are comfortable driving a manual - any autobahn opportunities between Stuttgart and Eningen? Dinner Wednesday is supposed to be in a medieval castle somewhere outside of town - should be fun. Planning ahead was pretty much ignored for today, since the afternoon was supposed to be spent in meetings. My counterpart bailed out at the last minute, so free time appeared.

Oh- business travel... I wish I had that kind of job...to a point.
Years ago, when I did , traveling got old. How many times can you visit Dayton and still find it exciting....?
