Booker states the obvious.

He could have gone a step further and suggested that Obama aggressively manage the "fanatics" who think he is the second coming. Those are the folks who genuinely concern me, and who could do the most (indirect) harm to his image via their words and behaviors.

You're losing me. The same could not be said because I said good ideas. Obama has appealed to the opposite human characteristics than those you listed.

It is IMO without doubt that Obama has gotten more people to care about the country's politics more than anyone since Kennedy. Enough that some people will act, when before they never did.

Sorry I didn't make the point more plainly.

People who invest themselves in the inspiration of a leader are as likely to be led by homicidal nuts as peace-loving messiahs.

I can't speak for everyone else, but FYI I'm an Obama supporter yet I have never in my life asked for any government assistance. How's that possible?

I see. I disagree it's 50/50. I know for myself, I would've been far more likely to follow Gandhi than Stalin.

How many maximum leaders through history have been like Ghandi and how many have been from the Darkside?

Meaning well in the beginning doesn't count.

Oh it's possible all right. Just like it's possible for a McCain supporter to be on food stamps. So what? I doubt that the vast majority of welfare bums voted for McCain.

I also happen to know of a retired IT execuitve, a man who used to drive 12 cylindered german cars with roof's that went up and down and fly overseas at the drop of a hat on business who now raves for Obama like a college cheerleader. He's pretty much repudiated his entire previous lifestyle and lifes work and now preaches, "humility" "frugality", "pennance for America's past actions" etc...

Of course he's quite able to do so from the comfort of the vast wealth he built up while doing what he now pretends to decry.

Easy, you haven't allowed yourself to be lowered to that level of dependency...your standards are high and you regard yourself as self-sufficient enough that even if GA was offered, you'd refuse it and let it go to others that are more needy. The problem is, there are a lot out there, in like-wise circumstances similiar to your own, that don't have any reservations about taking GA when they aren't that bad off...AAMOF, some brag about it...and it's not just Democrats that do it...Repos and Indys too...no party is immune...

Mother Teresa could have been a wonderful Democrat...if that was what she aspired to...but her calling was more obvious and demanding...

You mean there are people out there that want more than their fair share ?

And you think they get it by applying for government assistance ?

What about capitolists that will do anyting to make a buck ?

You know, the actual problem that is really going on, and is bankrupting us right now.

And I doubt that the majority of racists & religious fanatics voted for Obama. It's silly to lump everyone in the same bag based on who they voted for.

No doubt. But while you cannot unfortunately reduce religion or racism thru government policy, you certainly can reduce welfare. I rather doubt that will happen under Obama. And I would regard that as a particularly bad thing.

Actually I expect some change in the opposite direction. I see Obama as inspiring the bums to finally do something with their lives, especially minorities who no longer can use the excuse of discrimination to justify their lifestyles. If you listened to what the man has to say, you'd see he actually promotes self-reliance, self-improvement and helping your community.
