Isn't Khar the outfit that's connected with the Moonies?

My own favorite small pistol is the LLama X models, small little copies of the 1911 Colt, they come in .22, .32 and .380 caliber, with .380 my favorite for it's nice punch, and all models have good fitment into any standard cowboy boot. They are made in Spain, for the enjoyment of right wing authoritarian regimes throughout the world, and are a good choice if you are short on cash, as one can be had at most pawn shops for around $200. They are also easily hideable on a motorcycle, and fit nicely down a drain pipe if you have dispatched your spouse or her new friend, an all round good choice.

How long will it be before the Democrat Party makes another run on the 2nd Amendment?

Quite soon I'd think.

A few others are the Ruger SP-101 (I think) for a revolver. I remember it be a 5 shot snub nose. Also the Colt Mustang .380 auto.

There's also the Charter Arms "Son of Sam" gun, the Bulldog .44 - it packed a huge wallop in a small package, was dirt cheap, I don't see them around anymore.

Kimbers are very nice...but I think H&K would be the best.

When I get my pistol permit I want a Socom .45, about $2,300, in CT $5k with a silencer. I think that laser underneath is another few hundred. Which of course I want.:D

mrhills0146 02-03-2009 09:44 PM

I can justify an $800 handgun versus a $500 gun.

NFW could I justify a $2,300  handgun versus my $800!

That's collector's item territory, and $2,300+ is nuts for a CCW.

Hatterasguy 02-03-2009 11:35 PM

IMHO H&K's are the Mercedes of guns.

They are good, thats why military/police forces that can afford them use them. The Socom .45 was made for special forces. Its not really ment for CC, its ment for a Seal or Delta operator who needs a very reliable pistol. If you say wanted to swim up to an oil rig and capture it...thats kind of the market H&K were going for.:D

It's not on the market yet, and may never be, but I have a video that was sent to me of a real cool attachment for a full size Glock that turns it into a good option for concealed carry.

I can't figure out how to extract the video link from my e-mail in order to post just the link. If someone wants to see it, just send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll forward it to you. Maybe Hattie or a mod can post just the link?

As far as a source to purchase from, I have had good results finding stuff on www.gunsamerica.com. I got the brand new Kahr PM40 with night sights and the x-tra extended mag for $500 including S&H and the fee to the local FFL dealer.

I just don't see spending that kind of money for a compact pistol, which is really something you may need to shoot once in your life, maybe twice at most. A well-functioning revolver in the $400 range would be my choice. I'd rather save the big money for a nice over and under. It's a much more urban fiream for the use of impressing one's friends, pistols are just so trailer park. Things in this country may get to the point where we need Special Forces weapons to visit the local bar, but they are not there yet.

Make sure you register them early to avoid the Obamarush.

Thanks to all for your advice. I finally bought today. They had some nice 1911's, but they were a bit more money than I was wanting to spend. I handled a some Glocks and went with the 23. The .45's (other than the 36) are a little wider than the smaller calibers and with my small hands it made a difference, so I decided .40 was the way to go. The 27 has such a short grip frame that I didn't have a place to put my little finger, which is why I went up a size to the model 23. It fits my hand quite nicely. Oh, and it was only $525 on sale.

After I got it home, I read the manual, field stripped it, lubed it, then took it to the range and put a hundred rounds through it. I got two malfunctions, failure to eject, but in many of the articles I read, it's common for an autopistol to have a few malfunctions in the first hundred rounds or two and then break in and be close to 100% malfunction free. It probably didn't help that I was shooting cheap American Eagle ammo. I also took my .45 along for comparison. The Glock is a little less accurate than the Ruger, but that's still really good. I attribute that mainly to the shorter barrel and shorter sight radius. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with it.
