Sorry Chas H, if THEY'RE talking about it, I consider it PENDING LEGISLATION...all it takes is ONE NIMROD to put it on paper (any piece of legislation is enough to stick any piece of crap on it...even toilet paper...) and if enough people get something for something else (I believe that's called quid pro quo...you lawyer folks can sue/correct me if I screwed up...
) it's going to make it to law...Hell, our own Governor, during his recent State-of-the-State message suggested a few points that hopefully will be "FrankenProofed" from his veto-pen... As you all know, most states have mandatory seat-belt laws...but also, it states that a "probable cause" for a pull-over can't be because the driver is seen as not having his belt on... Guess what? It's in the Governor's Budget request...How's this suppose to be a budget item? BECAUSE fines for not having the belt worn will be State-mandated and the "probable cause" provision will be dropped and will be made a "primary" reason...just like a burnt out headlight or taillight... Our legislature: Too lazy to do their jobs and now they need to take a behavior and criminalize it and make money off it...supposedly to "train you into a safer way of living" and related monkey-speak BS... One other warning...If you happen to be in the La Crosse area, and you decide to drive across the Mississippi River over to the Minnesota side and to the little community of La Crescent...BE SURE YOUR BELT IS ON. I had resident of said community grab his belt and buckle it, then he yelled for me to get mine on...and just in time...sure enough, I got pulled over (I was 4 over the limit), and the first thing my friend said to the cop (he knew the cop, VERY PERSONALLY, but friendly-like... ) "HE HAD HIS BELT ON!!! HE HAD A BELT ON!!!" all the while he was pointing at me...The cop took my license, ran me, then gave the license back w/a verbal on the speeding. As it turned out, my friend got stopped less than a week before by one of the cop's peers in town...$118.00 for no belt...passengers can, apparently, get nailed for the same thing... Littering, get a fine... Speeding, get a fine... Not use turn signals, get a fine IF there's an accident or something along those lines... Not turn off your signal...shot first, no questions... Fart in your car...you've penalized yourself... But getting fined for not having your seat-belts on? ![]() As for my "jerking knee" issue...I'm fine...I find what's disturbing is that most folks have already died to the reality that Government can do no more wrong 'cause now the CORRECT PARTY is in charge...and all that freedom-thinking, America-first, line of living can be nanny-stated...we'll pull dollar-bills out of our @55es and professors and learned ivy-leagued primadonas will be able to spread their neo-communistic pablum over the whole of the United States and still think that they'll still be the turds floating at the top...
