Word has it--budget might fail in Senate

Just heard Evan Bayh is putting together a little group of his buddies to vote against the Prez' budget. Anybody else hear this? Wish I could be a fly on the wall in Pelosi's office if it is true.

I had hoped Bayh would have run against W for his second term. He's about the closest thing to a Southern Democrat like Sam Nunn was far as I can tell. One of my best friends is from In and has indicated there is a specific personal issue as to why he won't run, but I am not going to mention it here.

I don't want the budget to completely fail either, but i would like to see it hacked up, albeit without giving O line item

We already know the perils of when the legislative body rubber stamps the actions of the executive, so perhaps this is more change.

This is what he is supposed to do. I hope he also makes some intellegent suggestions and not just say "No".

I will be interested in hearing what he has to say, but I hope he says it quick. If Franken is seated soon and Specter switches to the Democrats it may not matter what the Republicans think.

I don't know if I get what you are trying to say--Bayh is a Democrat.

I think you're confusing the omnibus spending bill with the budget. The spending bill is what Bayh has been criticizing.

The pending spending bill is not Obama's budget. It's Congress's spending measure for funding some of the government so it keeps operating. It's also, according to Rick Santorum, full of Republican earmarks. He said last night on Fox News that it will likely get enough Republicans to vote for it because of that. It is based on the last funding bill of Bush's term.

Not confusing, but you are right, I typed budget instead of bailout bill. I'm on my Asus tinee

It's not the "Prez's budget", it's Bush's last budget.

The Bush-era earmarks total a piddling 7 billion, I wish they would just pass it so we can concentrate on the here and now instead of the unfortunate past. The whole thing is so politics-as-usual grandstanding.

It's not a bailout bill either . It's a general keep the government operating bill.

And you aren't really a CEO, you're actually listed as President of your corporation, aren't you?

Not that either of the two comments have anything to do with the thread.

I just thought it was pretty cool of Bayh to buck the party a little to try to skinny down some of the stupid stuff from the stimulus bill. I guess nobody else does and sarcasm will prevail, so I'll just delete the ****ing thread.
