I got 'em I want to eat 'em, but I can't shoot 'em

They are overrunning the area and they have NO FEAR of people or cars.
Maybe a little SDL hunting is in order

I am about 8 feet away from these birds...

Caution Turkey Crossing:

You can see that this is a suburban neighborhood with a small patch of woods between the houses... I will try for shots of the tame deer herd next -- fresh venison would be great too.

Wow, that's a lot of meat running around. Are they protected or you just can't "shoot" them.

How about a trap of some sort?

You could "accidentally" hit them with your car and get a roadkill game tag for them from the game warden, but after the 3rd-4th time he might catch on.

They're getting quite profuse around here, too.

Go after them with a bat and if someone catches you, just say it was self defense.

It's turkey season here....headed out tomorrow.

In La., it is illegal to do anything with road kill except for call it into a game warden--you can't keep it. Weird.

Weird for the rest of country not weird for Louisiana - have you looked over some of there game laws? Jeeze

I hunt all types of migratory fowl, rabbit and hogs (only

) in La., and their laws for those species are the same as anywhere else in the US I have hunted same, except in S. La., where they are strict on enforcement of tagging waterfowl (in most states you have an option, but it is a controversial gray area), but that is mainly because there are so many bird cleaning outfits in the area.

I used to encounter gangs of wild turkeys along the Blue Ridge Parkway when I lived in Floyd County, Virginia. They weren't as brave as the ones in those pictures, but they weren't all that bothered when I stopped to look at them. I have always heard that it is almost impossible to sneak up on a turkey in the wild, so I was surprised when they let me get so close.

And Wild Turkey 101 is on the short list of my favorite things in the world. I have never had a better bourbon, regardless of price.

I can't discharge a firearm in town limits

and here I am with the 12ga and birdshot in the house!

Maybe a snare of some kind -- or would a wrist rocket take one out?
I figure if they in the back yard and one or two disappear nobody will notice
