I drove a Hummer H3 for a month last year when I was TDY in Dallas. I liked it except for the useless windows Abrams tanks have better visibility and the gas mileage even with the 5 cylinder. I did take it off road (don't tell Avis!) and it performed OK. It seemed to have better quality cheap plastic over it's Chevy sibling. The H2 looks like what it is a poser Tahoe dressed like an H1. The snorkel intake and the tire inflators are just for show among other things. I would save the cash and buy a Tahoe over an H2, BUT if you like it, then go get one while you still can...

Hummers are an abomination....and are unsafe. Lets just say in an accident you're still going to want to be in a MB instead.

So, if you hit large, heavy objects with a Hummer, they become damaged?

Odd...

Have to say I wouldn't own a Hummer at all. Not even the "real" one. I know they are great for the army. but if I wanted a military vehicle it would have to be a Jeep. Other then being more heavily armored, I can't think of a single plus to having a Hummer.

The Jeep is light, nimble, easily repaired, can go anywhere.

Light

Nimble

Easy to Repair

Go Anywhere

While towing!

I had an awesome 1951 Willy's M-38. Best off road vehicle I've ever owned. Pulled lots of vehicles out of the woods, and no matter what I broke on it, it would always get itself home. Unfortunately, it was lost in a wildfire and hasn't been replaced yet, although there is one I know about, parked out back of a farm in Colorado that hasn't moved in 5 years.....

When they first came out my father bought one sight unseen to be one of the first people in town with it.

Sold it for what he paid less than a month later... Horrible truck.

If you plan on replacing the 300TE with it you might as well ban yourself.

Why not find a nice W211 wagon? I'm happier than a pig in mud.

So, I was offered the H2 for $10k or $12k with 20" wheels.... (Thats what the dealer is giving him as a trade in)

I think I may buy it.

20" wheels? Is that what this one has?

Sweet dreams...

That vehicle has no integrity. It's no good for on road and it's no good for off road. It drinks gas as an obscene rate. Looks are in the eye of the beholder, but I find SUVs with low profile tires to be beyond ugly. I get embarrassed when I see them, even if I'm alone. Please don't buy an H2 with 20" wheels. I can't imagine it turning out well.

Why do you like it?

I'd go for it, with or without the wheels. You seem intent on it. A buddy of mine was intent on a new H2 Hummer before the last gas spiral. He went for a new Porsche Cayenne SUV instead. Now, he's driving a new Toyota Prius......he is very spontaneous on buying vehicles and stocks, I've noticed. He was all excited, but did not buy 2 or 3, two story, 4 bedroom spec. subdivision homes in Reno, NV at the top of their pricing too. His son bought a new home at the very top of the real estate bubble near Sacramento, CA. He is the last person I would take vehicle, home or investment advice from. He bought the Toyota Prius at it's high, btw. Other than that, a nice guy.

Yeah no kidding there. Even in 2007 when everyone was banging on about buying a house I knew not to budge because we where overdue for a bubble.

My parents said the same thing when they bought our house back in the 80s for one heck of a good deal.

If by "10K without wheels" you mean that it comes with stock wheels, then I would say that would be a smaller waste of money than the 12K with the 20" wheels, especially when the 20" wheels probably decrease the value of the car.
