HuskyMan 06-06-2009 09:39 PM

You can't get blood out of a stone, but you can get money out of a corpse.

It does not seem so hard to imagine to me.

Truly sad though.

Agree,,,, this is New York after all,,, so what else is new ?

lutzTD 06-06-2009 11:34 PM

they probably stood 15 feet away while writing the tickets complaining about the smell

t walgamuth 06-06-2009 11:35 PM

I may not have been clear. I think it wouldn't be that hard to not notice a body in the back seat of a mini van. With tinted windows its really hard to see in.

And it was not their job to check for bodies just to ticket illegally parked vehicles. People tend to concentrate on their responsibilities and not notice other things.

You must understand NYC to realize that this behavior would be perfectly normal there.

The police are nothing like any other that you have ever encountered.

In Detroit, no one would have noticed, since there are so many dead bodies in the street as it is.

Not surprising, its NYC.

What is surprising is hat nobody boosted the van as it was sitting there. Maybe a dead body is the best anti-theft device...

Seriously,

I have watched the Brownies at work, then zap the registration bar code with a scanner from ten feet away, print the ticket on a hand held printer and slap it on the windshield. They do this in maybe 20 seconds, and never go past the front of the car or look into it. Now once it started to smell, I am surprised that they did not notify the real NYPD to check it out.
