You forgot absolutely stupid seeing as how it will have the exact opposite effect and tends to draw sympathy to the affected group. Much like the protection effect Hitler endowed on the jews with his actions. In an odd way, he was a big benefactor seeing as how they got their own homeland which they would not have got had Hitler not been there.

Refresh my memory. When was Israel created again? What event was it after? If it wasn't for Hitler who persecuted them, would the UN have even bothered with relocation?

I had the thought that the museum should leave the bullet holes as they are just to emphasize the fact that religious persecution is still alive and well. What do you think?

I used to work for the co. that in all likelihood will be repairing them, so I say no.

Well, the Holocaust Museum's purpose is, in large part, to not let people forget what CAN happen. Covering up, burying, and forgeting about are all pretty much antithetical to its original purpose. So, maybe they can make repairs and yet leave some sortof witness to the fact that anti-Semitism and religious intolerance are still alive and well in the world.

They're going to repair the damage because they don't want this incident to encourage others. They said that they were closing yesterday to honor the fallen security guard, but in reality they were reviewing their security practices before re-opening.

No more symbolic than invading the safety of somebody's home with gunfire. Yet the guards death is now somehow more important and sadder because of where he was. Crazy people doing crazy things with guns shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody, regardless of the location, and there isn't much that can be done to prevent a repeat occurrence. People (especially the media) need to move on and stop dwelling on the meaning, because there is none. Tragedy happens.
