maybe a few high tech nukes with much more heat than radiation fallout would suffice. I think we developed those more than a few years back. these guys are still making 1940's technology

Thats my biggest concern. I don't care if logical people have nukes, because they won't use them unless they are forced to. OTOH these guys seem to be starting to lose it, if they lose it enough they might pull the trigger.

x2, especially on the first sentence. The biggest benefit of having nukes is the deterrent effect it has on potential invaders. This is true for NK and every other nation that has nukes.
