Years ago when I lived in Dallas, there was a rapist whose technique was to hit women joggers with his car, after which he raped them as they died. I had always thought that was the lowest crime I could imagine, this one looks like a tie.... While most people consider me "liberal" there is one issue on which I am not, which is the death penalty. Like the one in my backyard, the gene pool needs a good cleaning, by professionals, on a regular basis.

OK, sermon over....... :o:o

And don't forget...Jesus did nothing wrong, and it was God's plan to allow humanity to torment and kill His Son as well!

We lack the intelligence and depth to understand the motives of an infinitely omnipotent Being...

Assuming God even exists in the first place, how do we know if he even has a plan or gives a rat's ass? If he's anything like me, he would create a process that sets the rules & auto-manages everything for him. In that case, even he wouldn't know exactly what his process will do for him.

In my opinion, any universe in which people refer to Mercedes turbo diesel wagons as 300TDT's can't have been designed by an omnipotent omnibenevolent deity.

every now and then the gene pool gets jacked...

You can account for that by allowing EVIL a place in the universe.
Whenever I see someone advertising to sell, or buy a 300TDT, I become amused, and then certain of my moral superiority to at least SOME of my fellow human beings.

If by 'evil' you mean some set of conditions without which the universe would have been a better place, then I don't see how such a set of conditions are compatible with an all good all powerful deity.

Maybe this being needs to make himself/herself/itself seen and explain it to us. Assuming it is that omnipotent, that should not be such a task, should it?

Very simple answer. IF he exists and is not omnipotent, WGAS what he wants? IF he exists and IS omnipotent, IOW, he can do everything he wants, why won't he come down and show himself and explain his plan. Even if we don't understand it, at least we know he exists?

OTOH, maybe as in the Tower Of Babel story, he is just trying to screw with us and keep us down.

I believe that's where the "faith" part comes in...

...If everything God created according to plan was fundamentally easy for humans to understand, He wouldn't be very awesome, would he? ;)

Blind faith, IMO.

And as I said, if he were really omnipotent, it would be easy for him to explain it so we can understand it.

I live by the simple belief that people are basically bad. Some manage to restraint themselves under the current conditions. However, with the right circumstances, the bad in them will come out. It is way less disappointing than believing that they are good people.

Yes, we need a scapegoat to blame for our misdeeds.

So you are basically bad in your opinion?

Yeah, shoot them all, or hang.

This whole crime is odd, their is a part of the story were not getting yet.

On another note this is kind of scary:
"The sheriff called the surveillance tapes "chilling." He noted the vehicles were at the home less than 10 minutes, and the five people were in the house less than four minutes.

"It leads me to believe that this was a very well-planned and methodical operation," Morgan said."

I never envisioned having to defend myself against multiple fairly well organized intruders. Thats tough even with a good rifle and supply of ammunition. Maybe installing a very strong bedroom door to buy you time.

I did say that people are basically bad creatures. If I am part of that "people", I would assume that I am bad too. I don't make that kind of exception because it would cover me as well as others.
