I agree. Unfortunately, the US legal system places a lot of weight on intention, way too much if you ask me. For example, if you intend to molest a child, you may get 20 years to life even if the child didn't suffer any physical harm. On the other hand, dismember the same child into many body parts by getting hammered, running a red light and T-boning the family's car, and you might get 6 months tops, because you did not "intend" to kill anyone. Total BS if you ask me. Yes, the intention matters too, but I think the end result should matter more than it usually does.
