GMC question
A friends got an 05 Yukon XL Denali, and one of the remotes broke.
Can I take a remote from another GM and program it, or does it need to be preprogrammed from the dealer? |
By remote do you mean the door openers or does it have a video system?
|
What exaclty is the remote? Do you mean what is used to lock it and unlock it?
|
I would imagine you need to have it preprogrammed by the VIN.
|
the fob.. the fob!

Try this:
This assumes that the new remote is compatable with the Yukon. Up to 4 remotes may be programmed. All remotes should be programmed at the same time as existing codes will be erased. 1. Close doors. 2. Insert key, do not turn. 3. Press and hold power door lock switch in the unlock position (on the door). 4. Switch ignition on, off, on, off (or on, lock, on, lock) Note "On" does not mean "Start". 5. Release door lock switch. 6. Doors should lock and unlock one time to confirm programming mode. 7. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons of the first remote transmitter for 15 seconds. 8. Doors should lock and unlock to confirm programming of the first remote transmitter. 9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for all remaining transmitters. 10. Switch ignition ON to exit programming mode. |

Also - Does this have a transponder key? I cannot find any info if it does or not.
Can I order a blank off ebay, and have it cut then programmed? I can only find info on the 2007+ body style GMs.... |
