$3200 for a 82 280SL? I'd buy that car in a heartbeat for a hobby, but for a "driver", that will turn into one expensive driver. You might want to get a mechanic to look at it first. You can probably count on a frontend overhaul, new a frames, etc, about $4 grand if you pay someone to do it. But for a hobby, great car if the engine and tranny are in good shape. That 2.8 liter is indestructable as long as you don't overheat it - my 280E clocked in 350k when it went to the scrap yard, and it was still drivable. One hint: replace the cooling system as a unit, all hoses water pump, radiator, all in one shot, unless it all looks new, the aluminum head on that engine warps in about two minutes if you overheat it.

if you wan't girls, get a 190 with the Cosworth 16 valve head. my girlfriend can't get enough of it. not that she can drive yet much less drive stick, she loves it when i throw it around. (don't worry im not doing anything stupid)

either that or an SLK.

Hey, the 280SL is great for attracting girls, as long as you like ones over 50!

The 280SL is for attracting WOMEN, not girls. Get a Corvette if you're looking for girls. We old farts need something a little slower and classier so we go for the 280SL. It's a lot easier on our bones if we have to fight jealous boyfriends when they are our own age (or at least have a good chance of out running them ) !

The 107 is handsome in the way that a nice, fit, mature woman is.

Think Susan Sarandon rather than Brittany Spears.
